Anyone here got an R1? (OT obviously)

Apologies to the subject police.

May I ask a faveur? I need the dimensions of the top/bottom yokes/forks because I want to throw away the stock FZR forks and put some decent ones from an R1 on it. Going by the pics I think they'd fit, (with the exception of a new hole in the mudguard) but I need to know if there's going to be major aggro with the yokes.

Much appreciated

Whoa, now just hold it there. What has happened to the TRX? You were fitting WP forks to that? How many bikes you got it bits?

FZR1000RU: Winter hack.
TRX870: At X bikes getting serious bling.
Vert: In bedroom, broke.
Scooter: On drive, broke.
KX500: In bedroom in bits.

That covers it.

Fair enough. Carry on.

That's great, shouldn't put himself out though. I'm only asking because Google is coming up with buggerall info on this.

Thanks.

Yeah but I'll have to do the newbie thing, buying drinks and stuff. Don't YOU have some R1 forks?

LOL! Just realised what you were asking!

Will try and check tomorrow, but mine are 03 which I believe are slightly different to 99-02 models.

Tomorrow will post the results.

I know that R1 fork tubes are 50mm at the top, same as my YZF750.

I think the R1 front end is generally similar in dimensions to the 750.
Tomorrow I'll dig out the haynes manual an see what other info I can give you that may help.

.....which are the same as the 1000 except that the 750 has adjustable compression damping.

I've got an 99-01 haynes manual infront of me, what exactly do you need Zanx?
41mm diameter USD
135mm travel

NORA #113
MRO #113

Haynes is unlikely to have these but it's worth a go.

I know the top yoke measurement is 50mm, I need the diameter of the forks where they enter the bottom yoke, just to see if they are the same size in those areas as the FZR kit.

Got one in the garage (like you do).

I'll measure it in the morning.

Zanx you might want to check the length of the forks as well.I'm sure someone told me R1 forks are a bit shorter than most other bikes.Apologies if that turns out to be wrong

I just saw this and know the answer. The R1 has 50mm in the top yoke and 54mm in the bottom yoke....I hope that helps.
