Where to 'off road' in Manchester..?

Where do all you fellow Manc's go off-roading in Manchester?

I've been going to the land facing Barton Airport - got aollared by security today so doubt i'll bge going there again!

 Anyone?

When you say offroad...

Do you mean on legal green lanes on a road registered bike?

Legal MX practice tracks on a non road registered bike (or registered if you like)?

Or any bit of waste land you can get on, regardless of  legality?

The bike I use is not road registered.

 I'm just looking for somewhere - anywhere to take it...

I dunno the legal issues of where i can/cant go - its all such a 'grey area'...

Not really.

If it isn't road registered you can't ride green lanes. 

You can ride on private ground. If you have permission it is legal, if you don't it isn't.

Can't get much more black and white.

the a place just north of Rochdale that would suit you, it cost about 25 quid  and if your in the TRF there drop a 10 er of for you.

I just needed to know a legal place to ride.

Ive bought a bike and now discovered theres little or no places to go!

If you aren't happy going to the local MX track every time out, you may be better off selling it and getting a road registered enduro or trail bike.

Then you can still ride the MX tracks (esp on the enduro bikes) for fun, and get out on the green lanes for a right laff. 

Like Able say's mate, looks like you've bought the wrong bike.

The bike you have is basically a motocrosser ie you can only ride on MX tracks or private land if you have any. And clearly you don't.

My suggestion would be to sell it on and by a road legal enduro cost you about a grand for a semi decent one. You can then go where you like.

Or just hooon about doing all three and even on the road.

Ofcourse the down side is Tax, Insurance and keeping it road legal. But thats a small price to pay for the fun you'll have.

I got the bike for very cheap as a bit of fun, spending a grand on a bike plus mot insurance tax etc isnt really an option.

I could always ride it on my lawn - ha!

I've just got a road legal green laner and live in North Manchester. Can anyone suggest any green lane routes to try or any suggestions where to look ?

 Oh and btw, I used to ride in Whitworth quarry.....its quite good but some bits dangerous. Def worth a try if you're not legal !
