LOL so the criteria for being an instructor is what ? Are we saying that time on a bike means you can be an instructor ? Who taught you the right and wrong way to ride round a track ? Are you assessed on your riding knowledge ?

This isn't an argument I genuinely want to know what qualifies you to instruct if the course doesn't cover riding skills, surprised it doesn't as you could have different ideas between instructors !
Well we are generally qualified by experience although this doesn`t count for a lot [I`ve been a bricklayer all my working life but I`m still a rough c..t]. There is no real qualification I don`t think different ideas are a bad thing we all do things differently, I`m sure your riding style is different to mine, Rossi rides totally different to Biaggi, most tdo`s like racers or ex racers to instruct personally [and this does not mean all of them] but I think racers do not make good instructors because they have an ulteria motive for being there [practice]. I think the 1st criteria is when your on a td and they are short of instructors its a case of he`s a familiar face and seems quick does he want to throw an orange vest on

The main issue then becomes how well the instructor can pass on that knowledge and advice to a customer. You might be another Rossi incarnate but if you can't explain to someone what you're doing and why then you'll be a crap instructor.

Doing a trackday is like making love to a beautiful woman: you need to have a good close look at your ride, make sure she's not too unwieldy and then when she's warmed up, ride her hard and fast for a number of 20 minute sessions

Well after my TD yesterday I can thoroughly understand why NL get good press.

Superbly run day. Informative breifing which didnt drag on and on. Free bacon rolls whilst the breifing was on - nice customer service touch. Friendly staff and i didnt see one instructor call anyone a cock or even swear!. (sorry was beginning to tar them all with OV's brush).

Overtaking was allowed with respect.

10/10 IMHO for a UK trackday.

3 things for you to think about...

Firstly, stop writing as though you are a spokesman for all trackday instructors - you certainly don't speak for me.

Secondly, be brave and stop hiding behind an alias and tell us who you are.

And thirdly, why should I be able to claim compo if I knew the risks ?

A bus driver know`s he could have a crash don`t mean if a car rams him he says "well I knew it could happen". It depends on what you were doing when you crashed, Its mentioned in briefings that the instructors are not to be used as a target so if tdo`s know we can be used like that why do we not have some kind of insurance cover, I have to have it for all the people that work for me.
I`ve never written like I am a spokesman for all instructors, when I 1st looked on here there were a few that were giving fe instructors a slating.
I can`t understand why you as an inst for fe would not want to say something when we were so generalised,
I`ll be quite happy to intrduce myself next time we meet, If by "be brave" you mean I`m a coward then we can discuss that too.

I never said you did, I`ve got no victim mentality believe me, I must just come across as a cock but I`m getting plenty of pm`s to say otherwise.

I can only judge you as OV and by what you have posted here and in that capacity for me you have come across as a bit of a cock and you do seem to contradict yourself a bit and you do seem to re-enforce some of the views people had of FE and even tho you aren't a direct employee you are seen as one.
As for you you really are or what you are really like I neither know nor care enough to find out.

I seem to remember that I mentioned the reason in a previous post.

But to assist you it was because I was starting a business with my husband. The job with FE was only a stop gap between leaving the financial services industry and starting our own business. I stayed longer than I originally intended to as the lease and refurb on our building took longer than initially estimated.

I,m a bit of a cock cos since I`ve been on here I`ve pointed out what I think are FE`s miss givings and also tried to stick up for the instructors that do a good job and for the ones like yorick who in my opinion should be getting something for his not being able to work if his injury was sustained while instructing. My contradictions have been that I`ll stick up for Fe staff when they are being slated undeserveadly but won`t hesitate in slating them myself when I think they deserve it, When I came on hear I was reading things like " instructors for fe are lazy, they have cut me up, they are un helpfull" why weren`t they saying these things about a particular instructor by describing their bike or something, If you don`t care who I am or what I`m like don`t bother to reply its that easy,

Most other folk on this thread are easily identified. Why do you need to hide behind a name ? Something to hide ? Not brave enough to stand by what you write ?
Its no threat Yorick, I`m easily identified, we spoke a couple of weeks back at silverstone, is your real name Yorick

I've been called Yorick for about 30 years - It's the only name that most folk know me as.

If I use my real name, only 2 people on the whole of VD would know who I am

I don`t know Jinksy knows you as that tight northern git,
See I don`t hold with all this sueing mentallity, I was given the wrong kind of ladder is bollocks but don`t you think we should be covered if we are told that the briefings have to happen for insurance reasons, how come the punters are covered but not us. paid or unpaid don`t make no difference people who work in charity shops must be covered

You tell us couch, you say you were instructer, what skills did you have and where did you aquire them. If you have done 200 trackdays like you say you have. then surely experience counts for alot. I would assume that you could teach someone that is on there 1st trackday having past there test for 6 months , a thing or two to help them, wonder if youll answer this time.

Its not doing much for instructors or FE's repuatation is it. Before long even the worlds longest ladder wont be long enough.
