CROFT -lap times ???

talking to a friend today she said that her best time at croft(darlington) was 1:31 now i know a few decent riders who do croft on a regular basis and they average 1:34+ . should i marry the woman :smoke: . ps it does seem rather rapid too me . way outa my league.

What is she riding. I do 1:34 on an sv650 with 70bhp.

2003 R6:smoke: not disputing that she`s a woman it`s just thats a pretty decent lap time imo . .unless my mates are slowcoaches.

It's respectable but not brilliant. Race winning time on an SV is less than that. Your mates are slow.

And yes you should marry her. A quick woman is a cool trinket to have

I'd rather have a cool woman !!!!

im stuck wiv a fat one!!

1'31" is a very respectable time.

fooking right it is :smoke: a ---seconds quicker than me .

I know the man who holds the record for 250s at croft... forget the exact numbers but it's in the region of 1'27"The quicker riders in the steel frame championship get down near 1'30"

Dennis Hobbs used to hold the record at 1:26.That was until BSB went there and Reynolds knocked off 2 seconds just in practice.I think Dennis was on a 600 too, a couple of years back now though.

Aye,those BSB lads are quick Kiyonari Race 1 2005.Outright lap record - 1.20.90 Personally,I reckon a 1:31 lap is fast as fuck for any 'normal' rider...

Ahhh keep going at it.. this was after a trackday and 2 days racing I hadn't cracked the 1'40" nark by the end of day 1. Hoping for better this year (April 7-9th) when I try it with the correct gearing For report n pics from the time seehttp://hazeldrury.co.uk/bikes/racing/05/Croft.html

Aye that's like me down there, but I'm not meaning too

Yeah but she's faster than you, so you must be slow aswell.

She's not called Wendy, is she?

some of you must be fooking good coz i bet not many people on a trackday get any where near 140 let alone low 130 :burnout: PS if she grinds as hard as she rides you should deffo marry her or at least shag her

paulmach1 wrote

You still looking for her?

If I get under 1:40 next month racing, I will be pleased !!!

Was this time taken with a transponder or one of the special track day stopwatches ?

down the s/f line through the chicane ,asross the dirtsport track and over the line :burnout: . i reckon i could beat 1:20 by that method .

thing is zxtenr, 1'40" IS a good time round Croft on a trackday, no matter what people say about 1'31" only being "respectable".On a race your going to get carried round by other riders and adrenalin, so you could possibly knock a few seconds off a trackday time easily. If you're doing 1'30" then you should be racing not doing trackdays as I know people who race who aren't doing that time.

Here man whats your fucking problem minitwinner?I can do 1' 31 on a CRF 450 with road tryes.

If the engine is in a mini- single chassis and you are a riding god then I might believe you. But as 1'31" is quicker than the 400 lap record - I some how doubt it.

MJ are you doubting my word?It certainly sounds like it.I don't give a shit what the 400 record is cos I ride a bigger bike than that.I use very good tyres and not some crap. What do you ride?

As I said if you are a god then you might do 1'31" on a CRF450 - If you do I take my hat off to you. But as you guessed I do doubt it particularly as I have never seen a CRF450 go as fast as an MRO 400.MRO 400 lap record set last year at 1'31.76"Me I ride a KR1S 250 and best I have everdone is 1'34"

1:42 for me at croft on the R1 i cannot see any areas that i can improve on tbo ( maybe tower bend and the last left hander b4 the s/f line. ).

Kenny,if you're struggling to get quicker why not have a word with one of the instructors? It worked wonders for me at Cadwell last year (ask Paul Mac,he benefitted too ).

Trouble with the R1's Kenny is they don't like to hold a tight line. I couldn't get below mid 1:40's on my R1 (2000 model).I've heard a good upgrade is a set of different offset yolks, to quicken the steering up, and I think these would help you get to the 1:40 mark.I sold my R1 and have a ZX636 now which I am able to do the same times roughly as yourself.Thing is I don't want to come off, so am not really prepared to push to the limit and I think that the likes of 1:30 is a no go for me, but I would like to break the 1:40 barrier and get in to the 1:30's. That's my goal this year

You are a racing God and I bow to your greater skill. I 31 in your head was it?

Taa legzr1 and paulmach 1. i did a jamie whitam trackday at croft last yr ,and picked a bit of skill up from the master .However my friends on R6s (track preped) can whoop my ass by about 8secs a lapeven though on the road i often lead the rideout . I have highsided at sunny in b4 and my confidence was wrecked for the rest of the day( shared a mates bike) .

Road vs Track is totally different because you're not pushing to the limits on the road. The R1 is great here, using the decent mid range to pull you out of corners, and gear selection isn't as important as on a 600.I had Ohlins on my R1, plus Harris bars, which are wider and give more leverage, and I had the forks dropped 10mm in the yolks, but I still couldn't get it to turn sharp and hold a decent line. I maybe should have tried the offset yolks myself, but I had that much in the bike I decided to sell it and go for something cheaper, so I bought a damaged ZX636 and haven't regretted it at all.Sunny in ; now that's a fast corner to come off on

i have a damper fitted ,lowered the front forks by 5mm and running rennsports . i am upsetting the bike by knocking it down 2 or more gears(as late as poss) b4 the first corner and into tower .as for the incident at sunny- i was chasing a mate = red mist = me lying on grass = bike lying on the old runway :burnout: . by the sound of things my times of 1.42 are piss poor :burp: but it feels quick enough 4 me . roll on next month at croft.

Dont beat yourself up about your laptimes mate . with each lap ,the traffic changes so you have to adjust . croft is not my fav track ?? donny is bu i`m still over 6secs faster than yaw :smoke: . as long as you enjoy it .

I.42 laps off croft put you in any fast group ive ever seen there so i wouldnt worry to much about other people using trackday timers

zxtenr,I totally agree.Any lap at Croft in traffic in the 1.40's is good (I have to say that cos they're my sort of times ).The problem on here is someone puts their laptime up and within 2 posts there's someone quicker rubbishing the time.Of course there are always gonna be quicker riders but this is the t/day forum, not the fucking race forum !As Miller Killer said - it's a track day, enjoy it Having said that it's still a bit of a bastard when some talented little twat hands you your arse on a plate riding an RGV250 Anyone up for Croft around the first/second week in May (probably a Friday) ?
