There's a www.viamichelin.co.uk domain - may be a bit faster than using .com

It's also my choice of Euro-mapping...

There's also this useful resource - I think it's been mentioned elsewhere - ADAC motorcycle touring maps

It may be useful to sticky it. (boing).

Another idea for a sticky would be if someone pulled together all the info on GPSs and stickified it.

Might be useful.

My pleasure. Haven't updated it in a while but there's some handy links in the thread.

It will be helpful if the thread were a sticky.

Please send a PM to Abel, CS asking if he would please oblige. Thanks.

BTW, Microsoft Autoroute is also pretty good and versatile.

I think we discussed the sticky idea and (can't remember exactly) I think it was displaced by the idea of having a sticky of 'the thread of useful threads'.

I'll ask. I'm happy enough to try and keep it updated if people come up with new links.

I cant see as it will do any harm stickying it. Its a useful reference.

And available in cheap pirated versions from an auction site near you. Not of course that I would endorse doing so as Bill Gates is not yet rich enough.

Hello everyone, hope this is relevant to this section.

I have for the last two years been using Google Maps to plan each days riding on our European tour, find its ability to route plan using the bendy roads brilliant. However I've been fustrated that I couldn't load my entire days riding in direct onto my Tomtom without a huge amount of fuss loading via the touchscreen.

Anyway.....been scanning the net and have found a free bit of software called 'Tyre' - it sits on top of Google Maps and allows entire tours to be loaded direct to the TomTom. You can search for towns, directly place your own waypoints, go onto their website add POIs etc even load other peoples routes that have been uploaded.

If you use TomTom this is a fantastic program.

follow link to: http://www.janboersma.nl/gett/index.php - as I say, the program is free but asks for a donation to keep the site going - easily worth a contribution!

Mappy is good, but be aware that if you change the vehicle type to Motorcycle, it automatically excludes motorways.

I agree TYRE is really good planning tool. You can use a conversion program ITNcnv to convert files produced into Garmin etc. Just search in Google 'ITNcnv' and you will find a link.
