Talkback: Yamaha MT-01

12k miles done, best bike I have ever owned. 88hp may seem weedy but somehow it keeps up with all the crazy screaming sports bikes in the real world without the stress and anxiety. Why? torque, 100ft/lb pretty much everywhere - you are gone before the others have cogged down.

Tours brilliantly: add a screen and it is all day comfy with the relaxing low revs. Stick it in top gear and leave it there.

Pop in some high compression pistons and a power commander and you have 110hp/115ftlb which transforms it to whole new level of urgency that is worth every penny.

I like to think of my MT-01 as a GS with attitude and style.

I agree, got one myself and love it, go out with a couple of mates on sportsbikes

and I keep with them everywhere, and I dont ache afterwards.

I have now  done 6k on mine and love it too

Had all sorts of bikes, and can out run most things on the twistys on this

had test ride on one cause i thought it was going to be the bike for me,   i like my bikes to have presence and the mt01 definately has plenty of that, but why o why did someone put it in such a high insurance bracket.     ok its got a good chassic but i dont think the engine is going to pull your arms out is it !!!  i think yamaha should give the performance details to the insurance companies and ask them to think again.

ok, rant over, an xjr owner.

Had mine for 5 years now & still a entertaining & fulfilling ride, don't think I'll ever sell it. One hellava nice motor with real torque, in a chassis that handles well & stops on a dime (Harley who?) Mid corner, 2up @ 130kmh & clipped a tar rumple in the apex with the rear, a little tail kick & no drama, says a lot for 240kg bike, very forgiving. Oh & the glorious noise, thank you Staintune. Now where's that turbo kit...
