Rossi toys with them

Am I the only one who thought that Rossi actually let the others (Biaggi etc) catch up after he got into the lead with the knowledge that he could piss off when he wanted to? What a pisser to be racing against someone like him. (And what happened El Gibber?)

You do get the distinct feeling that he is just amusing himself :burnout:

You could see how he could get on the back wheel of Biaggi so quickly when he wanted to. Everyone else seems to be flat out but yet Rossi somehow manages to look together. I liked Melandri's riding as well. He did one serious outbraking move.

Seriously fun GP though if that is what he is doing

Cracking racing, that Italian crowd went a bit bonkers at the end didnt it?

WUSS#1169, pipe 'n' slippers officionado. 'L'Homme Bleu qui marche plus vite', yes and keep it that way. This is also still dull

VFRs are nice, a bit like me, nice but dull :smoke:

It must be great for them having 4 Italians in the 1st 4 and one of them on an Italian bike. Lucky bastards!! (And their women are lovely as well (but a bit stuck up ) Some dudes have it all.

I did get the distinct impression that he wanted to put on a good show for the home crowd. He may well have been saving his tyres for later in the race, but I think you are right. He just wanted to rub Biaggi's nose in it. Max rode better than he has for ages though.

Am I the only one who thinks Rossi is ruining it as a spectacle by being so far ahead of everyone else? A bit like Schumacher?

I don't think any of the current 'second best' of Gib, Capirossi, Biaggi et al will usurp Rossi, it will be down to the likes of Melandri and young riders coming up from 250s.

rossis pace varied by as much as 1.5s which is very rare for him. normally he sticks within 1s even toward sthe end of the race.

he did seem to be toying with biaggi and roped him back in at will. but respect to biaggi, one of his best rides ive ever seen him do.

and melandri was unlucky.

Not atall. schumacher just used to fuck off into the distance and it'd be boring. Rossi enjoys the dicing with other people so makes this entertaining. He might be a dead cert most of the time but atleast he puts on a good show.

I think that is part of why rossi is so special. not only is he supremely talented he has the ablilty to sell the sport as entertainment. schumacher hasnt got enough of a personality to keep a hyperactive 5 year old awake let alone make F1 interesting.

Don't forget the rest of Rossi's team.
Jeremy BURGESS and many of the other technicians left Honda to go with Vale, and you have to ask the question would the Yamaha be where it is without their expertise. That's not taking anything away from Vale though, if you look back to where the 2nd Yamaha normally finishes, it shows how good he really is. However has Honda missed these crutial people, involved in the development of the RCV, like JB and fallen behind the progress Yamaha have now made?

Apart from this Vale is already a legend, it's going to be a while till there's anyone challenging him on a regular basis.

It should raise the bar for the next generation, led by the likes of Melandri, so from that angle it is a good thing.

I agree Rossi has a lot of personality and appeal, both on and off the track, but I can't help but think he is not being challenged enough and bar gravel excursions and mechanical failure, both of which are rare for Rossi, he'll finish more or less where he wants.

The battles for 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc have been great, but you may as well give Rossi the title now and tell him to piss off for the rest of the season, so we can at least have a bit of mystery about the winner...

Anyone else notice he passed Max right infront of max's fan clubs part of the track, how funny is that. Talk about rub his nose in it.

Rossi doesnt think about winning anymore, thats a no brainer, he thinks about how upset his fellow riders the most.

Dam! beat me to it!

I think Rossi was saving himself for the last few laps. Once Rossi and Baggi had put some distance betweeen themselves and Capirossi and Malandri it was a case of him sitting behind and letting Baggi do all the hard work.

Passing him in front of his fans was class though :burnout:

But he's got years ahead of him, Loris doesn't really, so at home on a on a Ducati, it just had to be Loris.

The question has to be... who the hell can come and take the crown from Rossi ?

I simply don't see anyone of the youngsters in the same league as Rossi. Melandri and Hopkins are the two young hopefulls... but neither of them have what it takes... someone from 250 ? possibly ? God knows...

At this rate, Rossi could be champion for the next decade.

None of the current guys have the beating of him and that's for sure. I watched the race again last night and it seems to be frightening how much he has in hand. I also think that he was fucking with their heads as Jeremy Burgess was interviewed after the race and he said something along the lines of 'It will be interesting to talk to Valentino to find out what went on' which I took to mean that he was playing with Biaggi.

Pedrosa could be take it to him or maybe that Lorenzo character but I suspect not

what was it someone said on Eurosport at the weekend, something like

"Biaggi is good, Rossi is god"
07/06/2005 at 10:52
IS it me or do others get the feeling that Vale is destined to be the top of his game for a while and then meet his maker in the way he wants, IE flat out? AKA senna?

Watching the race again yesterday, rossi was playing with the field/crowd but I do have to take me cap off to him for the sheer ability and doff it again to Biaggi for his best ride for quite some time, Melandri for the sheer size of his balls for that out breaking manouver and Capparossi for what was a stunning ride!

May the season continue like that!

Stunning last lap effort. Watching him back that duke into the bend was brilliance. You could see at the end he was well chuffed with that effort I was cheering like a beasty.

I aggree with others that Rossi does play with other riders a bit. He knows that his fans do like to see a good dice between him and Biaggi. Would be nice to see what things would be like without him being there. Wonder if Gibbers would walk over everyone like Rossi does...Dont think so
