What a complete and utter tosser Max Biaggi is , did you see his
riding in the Japanese GP when Rossi was trying to get past ?

If i was Rossi , i'd have walked up to him after th race and kicked
his teeth down his throat.
Biaggi could of killed someone with his riding and should be banned for 3/4 races
to make him realise GP's do not revolve around him !

But what a fantastic race it was full of action , feel a bit sorry for WSB now
cause their two races have been a bit processional this year , but GP's
will come back with avengence now if that's how the racing's going to be.

Good on Leon Haslam for finishing his first race , pity he's on the v-twin,
what was Walker thinking of ?
Just hope it's not the old British diesease striking our promising GP rider's again.
Good on him for giving it the berries but he could of done more than 1 lap.

A good start to the season for Jezza , i think he will be a real force to be reckoned
with as the year progresses, just hope everything goes well for him this year.

Look's like i'll be going to the GP then this year , how about a campsite get together ?

It's only the internet.

agree with you over Biaggi
as for GPs taking over from WSB Suzuka always brings out good races I think you will see totaly differant racing once WSB gets to Europe .
Looking good for next season with the new four strokes comming in,
WAlker is useing this season as a learner he'll get to grips with riding a 2 stroke and then 500 s will be 4 stroke can't see the point I still believe he would have been better off sticking with superbikes

Top Race I have been looking forward to the start of the GP this year and it looks as if I was right to be excited. Rossi was superb and I guess Max has decided that if he can;t beat him he'll try to kill him instead. I'll be at Donnington this year as I go every year but would you believe I have never seen the end of the 500 race? Yep every year I go and every year I get pissed and fall asleep. Last year I tried very hard to go the distance, had a little sleep in the morning, kept off the booze untill 10ish, and got two thirds of the way through the race when .........

Eyes open Rossi is going past standing on his bike - bugger!

I have decided I'll keep going until I get to see the entire race - then retire.

Trapped on the wire by his bollocks !

Been waiting all winter. Always loved tha strokers since a certain Mr.Sheene first turned me onto biking. This year's racing will be wicked, what a field!!

And Rossi is a GOD. What a rider, with a wicked attitude too.

Sorry to all the WSB fans, but I've never been into that, this year's gonna be the best for GPs since the early 90s.

Deffo up for a trip to the Brit GP - going to Jerez in 3 weeks, wouldn't mind making it to at least 3 or 4 of the buggers this year

well disagreeing so far. Stayed up and so watched with tired eyes but:

It looked like Rossi was going on the outside of Max as Max was himself going that way. I've seen this type of thing loads of times with Superbikes when exiting a tight-ish corner; bloke on inside going to outside as bloke tries to OT on the outside line. The only diff here was that the moves were a bit more protracted as the bend was not as tight but they were going much faster.
Even putting elbows out...its what happens in these situations.

I watched on Eurosport and heard dissenting voices over it. Randy and Toby both said it would have been OK if it had been a last lap manouvre for the flag. But if it would have been OK then, why not earlier? A race can be won at any time and so what if Max had held Rossi back and then Rossi's tyres had gone or got tussling with following riders causing Max to hold a position over Rossi? Nobody knows 'what if' but they were fighting for race position....its a race....and you must fight for your position. Unless you are sooo good you can play with the opponents.

What I did not expect is the seeming rapport that began between Max and Rossi at the press conference. Rossi said something like the racing leading group was "angry" but as he was saying this he was smiling and he obviously enjoyed mixing it and winning. Ditto Max who also was grinning and shook Rossi's hand after giving him a cheeky slap on the arm with his cap.
I had the suspicion that both riders had gained more respect for each other after this race, which was afterall one of the first times they had really had a good run together. Max and Rossi may have exchanged paint (as I think any riders did today) but they sure didn't exchange cava!

I'd be surprised if Max had any punishment as I think it was a straight racing fight....and a good one too. I'm sure we'll see more in the future.

Pity about Nori and Chris Walker crashing out but a they were both high in the rankings so this bodes well for their future competitveness.

What was Channel 5 coverage like?

well whaddya know?

I thought the race was fantastic, a real advert for the sport. Do you think Walker needs to get used to starting near the back of the grid? For the last few seasons he's been used to being either on or near the front row for a flying start so he generally does'nt get caught up in all the bunching shenanigans on the first few laps.
Just a thought.
I don't like Biaggi much but I agree that if it was good for a last lap then its good whenever.

woooo! bring it on... on reflection (and having read some of the posts here) the clash of max & valentino was a 'racing' thing.... in fact was one of the most exiting races in gp i have seen for a while... more like brit superbikes! mcCoy.... wot is he like? great fun! more please

Suppose Rossi HAD fallen, and been injured or worse, would it just have been a racing incident then?

Anyway hope to see more races like that all the way through the season , with Walker staying on the bike I hope. I never saw what actually happened. It said on the Moto GP site that he had a coming together with another rider. Hmmm. Could mean anything. Anyone actually see what happened?

I think I need a sit down and a nice cup of tea.

I read on another site that he was out near the "dirty" stuff coming into the chicane and clashed with the other rider as he went down under heavy braking.
I've not seen it myself to verify this but...

Top Gizzer

Made the race, Rossi is far better than him, i bet he didnt even curse, when he shoved him off the track,

Rossi is great, so is biaggi, the guys just jealous that rossi is gonna win the crown, and he aint

Unlucky Mr Biaggi. (still a top gizzer)

how about McCoy fecking brill or what?

Neon Green Powerball "11923 RPM" Feb 2010 Abarth 500 bikes all gone 2005 bad times

to keep his job on that team? The guy has had more than enough time to prove himself. He seems to race when the mood strikes him. He must've brought Marlboro sponsorship with him to keep the job. Maybe he's bangin the CEO of Marlboro Italy's daughter.
11/05/2001 at 14:56
Come on Biaggi is racing the best in the world and capable for finishing 3rd - i don't think you can slate his racing ability/skill that much

as for his move - nothing wrong with it. If it has been Abe and Crilive no-one would have cared - but its like the hodge & walker saga - its the two rivals so they made a meal of it

Rossi went round the outside - biaggi cut him off - its all racing. Bike racing is close; car racing is not close - bike racing is ace; car racing is shite

Max is brilliant. Valentino may be better at the moment, but don't forget that Max outscored EVERYONE in the second half of last season.

The incident with Valentino was nothing bad at all. Max didn't shove Valentino off, as Valentino had no room to pass there anyway. Max's elbow out was reflex/protection/having a quick stretch...

Besides, love 'em or hate 'em, having Max, Valentino, Loris, Gary, Norrick and Barros in the same race will make this season the most entertaining in years.

I love it all.

YES AND ALL YOUR BAYLISS' FANS : DIDN'T HE DO THE SAME AT BIAGGI TO COLIN AT END OF RACE TWO

CLOSE RACING IS FUN; F1 IS NOT - SIMPLE AS
17/05/2001 at 11:43
Agree with Weasel for a second time.

Bayliss/Edwards looked worse than Biaggi/Rossi, as they were going straight. They actually seemed to enjoy it too.

I can't wait to see Biaggi and Rossi braking together into the Melbourne loop later this month.

Err, assuming Valentino hasn't buggered off into the distance.
17/05/2001 at 20:50
valentino had been off the track on numerouse occasions through out fri sat and the race, i think it was a bit dodgy on the part of biaggi, but i dont agree wiv ya about going up and punching biaggi.it was a scarey moment for valentino, but he put himself there and as some one said earlier they were both heading out on the same line, ok max got his elboes up but rossi was running out anyway elbows or not.
i think biaggi is a faggott twat but hes a top rider, and valentino scored bigger points for not reacting. we're set for an era of domination to make mick doohans look short lived
