please tell me he didn't get paid for that ride in gp's. he told mamola he retired from the race because he wasn't doing great and couldn't catch barros.what a prick. is it just me or is that a fucking joke?
surely that ride could have gone to another youngster to give it 100% and show what they could do? instead of that idiot wasting everybodys time.

it's people like you that make people like me need medication!

he said " maybe we can work with the team and be out there again soon...."

I said..." take a picture matey....thats the last time you'll see your arse on that seat...ever!"

wasted opportunity...

go ride against the club racers in AMA old man!

( with full respect to his racing history...and being a good rider,....but give it up...if he's the same age as me....my name it tutankhamun)

I was fast once.....
now its a distant memory!

Think he only really got the ride as a thanks for his services to honda usa and he probably didnt see any point in waisting his energy when he had his main ama race to come.....although I do agree with you it was a complete fucking waste of a ride and I personally dont like de hammul the camal, think Jake zemke would have been a better choice IMO

Should have given him a friggin carriage clock instead

I bet a few up and coming riders would have walked over burning coals for that ride in that race and he goes and wastes it

Yea I was at the races....should have given the ride to Neil Hodgson.....the best racing on sunday was hodgson, yates & duhamel for 3rd in AMA superbike.....Westie did a great Job again in MOto Gp.....
Was basically a waste putting Miguel on that Moto Gp bike....such a shame that they could not have given it to one of the younger riders..
Why the hell he pulled in I don't know....at least Hopper kept banging out the laps......

23/07/2007 at 16:42
made me laugh when they said he puts his age down as 37 or somethin, aint no way he's in his 30's
23/07/2007 at 17:13
yeah i agree, what a waste of a ride.

He may have been a great racer but I'll never have any respect for the prick.
To waste a ride like that and to then admit it on air must have made a lot of 250gp and other top riders choke on their beers watching the race, for christs sake Lorenzo was out there, he would have dug out blind for that chance, if his team had allowed him to take the ride.

What a total waste of time and energy that ride by Duhamel was. He didn't deserve race that bike. If he wanted a go on it - let him do a test session. Didn't do himself any favours.

Agreed. The only bigger tool is Hodgeson, for turning the ride down in the first place. What an idiot. "Concentrating on my Superbike career". WTF is that. Neil mate, you aint got a superbike career unless you have a bike to ride. He'd have more chance getting a factory WSB ride next year by finishing last in a MotoGP race than he would by finishing 3rd in an AMA race. No one in Europe watches AMA anyway, hence Jamie Hacking is still over there and will probably never get a ride at world level.

Think Duhamel was saying the bike didn't feel right, didn't want to push too hard with AMA races still to do etc.

He should have thought that lot through properly before accepting the ride and denying someone else the chance of MotoGP experience. What a fraud.

It's not even like the organisers were desperate to get a local (i.e. US/Canadian) rider onto the grid as a wildcard or anything.

This totally sums up the problem with young up and coming talented racers never getting a chance to prove themselves, when chances like these are being thrown away by odd decisions by manufactureres and teams alike.:confused'Antin stuck their neck out to give Chaz Davies a go.Thats the way forward.

His manager even said it was a big mistake but that it was Neils choice at the end of the day.

Roger Burnett - and he tried to persuade Neil to take the ride but he wasn't having any of it.

Reading an interview about it Burnett made it clear he thought he was wrong to turn it down - all he can do is advise him and if Neil doesnt want to do it then its his choice.

at the end of the day duhamel and his father/brother(not sure which)doug duhamel. have been honda men nearly all their lives and honda needed a yank on their bike,
he is still a fantastic rider that would still out ride most people if he was on a blade,
maybe the bike didn't suit him as he only got his first ride on the friday.
as you can see hodgson didn't want to make a fool of himself on a gp bike again.
duhamel is not young and not stupid,so if he crashed he could have been out for a season or even finished his career, which is something people for get about.
hodgson is racing in the states for the money now as do most of the riders.like duhamel, maladin, hodgson, ben and eric bostrom.
would you say no if you was a racer, but then if it was harder than you though would you stay out and crash, seeing that you had already done 2 superbike races and a 600 race.

where as toseland being young, said yes to the suzuka 8hr race went 110% and crashed out on the first lap and his race was finished.
if he had hurt himself he could have lost the championship this year so is he stupid ?

No, totally different circumstances. JT wanted to do the 8 hour because it was a chance to impress HRC. As it turned out, it went totally the other way. But when JT was jetting into Japan I bet he didn't expect he'd crash out on his first lap!

Hodgeson on the other hand, has no notable ride to speak of. And he aint gonna get one at this rate. Can you see NH going to WSB and stuffing Bayliss (on the new Ducati), Haga, Biaggi probably and possibly JT and Edwards?

Me neither. That motogp ride was a fucking gift from god. That's like Colin Wright coming down to a Bemsee meeting, and asking Joe Club Racer if he fancies a couple of rides on the Airwaves Ducati. You can laugh, cry, sing, gurgle or crap your pants. But you don't say no.
