I think this will be brilliant for WSB. An on form Biaggi, Troy Bayliss who's clearly not dropped off his pace and as much factory input as there has ever been on control tyres. And if Toseland wins it this time, no-one will be able to say he does'nt deserve it!

Race tyres:
1. Max Biaggi ITA Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra GSXR1000 1min 33.9 secs
2. Lorenzo Lanzi ITA Ducati Xerox 999F06 1min 34.1 secs
3. Troy Bayliss AUS Ducati Xerox 999F06 1min 34.2 secs
3. Yukio Kagayama JPN Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra GSXR1000 1min 34.2 secs
5. James Toseland GBR Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR 1min 34.6 secs
6. Fonsi Nieto SPA PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse ZX10R 1min 34.8 secs
7. Troy Corser AUS Yamaha Motor Italia YZF R1 1min 34.9 secs
8. Regis Laconi FRA PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse ZX10R 1min 35.1 secs
9. Noriyuki Haga JPN Yamaha Motor Italia YZF R1 1min 35.3 secs
10. Roberto Rolfo ITA Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR 1min 36.7 secs

Qualifying tyres:
1. Lorenzo Lanzi ITA Ducati Xerox 999F06 1min 33.9 secs
2. James Toseland GBR Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR 1min 34.2 secs
3. Yukio Kagayama JPN Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra GSXR1000 1min 34.7 secs

Barros had a perfectly good bike last year, what he didnt have was a good set of responses which meant that he saw the lights change 2 seconds after everyone else.

Yeah, but Max is different class and the first top notch MotoGP boy to go to WSB, Barros did nothing with top MotoGP and 500 bikes year after year.

His bike had HRC spec parts and Showa RCV Forks. That bike was sorted

Bloody amazed at Lanzi's effort.

Err when he had the Honda V5 he won races - so how's that doing nothing?

good stuff from Max !:smoke:

I hope that Max gives a damn good seasons worth of racing next year, he should be remembered as the top rider that he is/once was, not the moaning fanny of recent times.

Won how much? Max has a win rate 6 times better!

Alex, 251 GP's, 7 wins,
Max, 215 GP's, 42 wins,

He's also four times world champion and been runner up three times to argueably the two of the best riders ever (Doohan and Rossi).
The top three come seasons end is a place Barros has never seen.

To list people who've done better than Max over the years you're listing absolute gods, the same is not true of Barros.

I like Barros but he's not in the same league as Biaggi, not many of recent times are tbh. I agree with Fontyy. Be good to see him kick some ass for a change, been a while since he was the big fish, not since his 250 days I suppose.

Never said that, but you can't say a MotoGP winner has done nothing can you.

Indeed, arrived in 500's with a bang, destroyed track records for fun in pre season, won his first race, wound Doohan up every press conference and had the speed to back it up, unfortunately then fell out with HRC, went and rode the rubbish YZR and never recovered.

It'll be good to see what he's got to say of the current WSB field if he wins a couple of races early on, his comments about Doohan only being able to win once Lawson, Spencer, Rainey, Schwantz etc. had retired were classic (and maybe true), not that Max would have been able to tame the early V4 screamer NSR any better, that was no job for a 250 man.

Top of the heap on race tyres, not even qaulifiers!!!

I can't believe I'm saying this but as much as I'll be cheering on Toseland next year, I'll also be rooting for Max to get one more world championship before he retires.

You never know, if Biaggi does it next year it may fire up Rossi to look at WSB in his old age instead of fadeing out of MOTOGP in 5-7 years.
26/11/2006 at 12:48
I think Rossi is more likely to switch to some form of four wheeled motorsport then WSB. 11th in the New Zealand rally was an outstanding achievement from the curly haired one
26/11/2006 at 14:58
He wasn't the most talented driver there though.

personally I hope he gets stuffed and finishes nowhere. Nothing against him, but it would be one in the eye for all those that slag off WSB as a nothing series.

I had a Kocinski rep lid for years, probably my first racing hero. The man was such an odd bod tho but he could sure ride a bike ! What ever happened to him, he just faded away never to be heard of again . . . . . he's prolly out there somewhere hoovering up as per (ab)normal
27/11/2006 at 19:24
I used to find him interesting. He came to WSB after a year off, in which he had taken up jet ski racing. (And yes, he was good at that too!)

He may well have won the title at the first attempt if it hadn't been for several DNF's caused by the Ducati shitting itself.

I think he made King Carl look a bit of a ass in 07.

He's actually making far more money now than he did while he raced.

He's a real estate agent in CA.
