Reports from the US of A claim the new ZZR1400 is putting out 173bhp @ the rear wheel and 197 @ the crank.

Sounds like a beast.

Was supposed to be released right about now, but it has been put back to June.

I'd get one

Me too. If it's anything remotely as good as the ancient ZZR1100 then it'll be a stonking bike.

American horsepower are traditionally smaller (so you get a higher figure).
I'd say 165 at the rear wheel might be more like it on a UK dyno.

I reckon the ZX12R puts out more than that.

173BHP would sound about right

If Ive read and recall correctly, the GSXR1000K6 puts out 175bhp doesnt it?
If thats right, the new zzr doesnt seem to have as impressive figures.

Of course if I was in the market for either bike, Id choose on the basis of comfort and which one looks better. Id never be able to find or even use the difference in power between them, so the figures are nothing more meaningful than ink on an advet. The same for most people I reckon.

The new zzr does look good though from the pictures Ive seen.
Then again so does the k6.

Nah. Has to be over 170. I'm sure that I read one of these did a sub 9 sec 1/4 mile stock except for a longer swingarm. That's hellish quick.....

I thought everything was bigger in Merica

I read that report too. I think it said it had a custom exhaust system, a longer swingarm and a custom fuel map. Apart from that it was a stock bike.
And your right, it is hellish quick.

I just did a quick google as well, and 178 or thereabouts is the figure that keeps coming up as bhp claims for the k6 gsxr.
So 170bhp does seem slightly weak for the zzr if its going to take the crown as fastest bike

Thought it looked more like a Busa when I saw one at the Scottish show, was happy to walk on past

Don't mix your claims with your measured, and your wheels with your cranks...
