Hi my name is Peter, and from South Africa, and have been biking for 20 odd jears now,
i am in the process of buing a bike now ,as most of my biking career was on Suzuki and Kawasakis,i have opted for the ZX9R,but the problem comes in on the diffrent models i,e C1,C2,E1 and so forth,
what is the diffrence in these(and other)models? and wich is the better model?
any help will be gladly accepted, thank you all

The numbers refer to the 'release' model of the bike, a bit like software. I think it goes something like this;

The letter refers to the 'major' model, 'A' being the very first one. The numbers refer to the 'tweaked' models. I.e., when a major overhaul of the model comes along (when the bike changes dramatically), the letter changes, when it's just tweaked a bit, the number changes.

So, the higher the letter, the newer the model. I think we're one J2 now aren't we?

I stress that I am not sure, this is just what I think.

Just looked it up, we're actually on the F1 model, C2 is '99. Maybe my thoughts are not correct.

No. The 2002 9r model is only up to F1. J2 is a zx-6r model.

In general at least, the later the model, the "better". The only difference between an E1 and an E2 and a C1 and a C2 are the colour schemes and the age.

Differences between C and E? Wider rear tyre, various minor engine and gearbox changes and new bodywork with twin headlights [source - RiDE magazine]
