Wine buffs: online ordering recommendations

One of the docs I work with was given a bottle of wine, which when I looked it up in the SA Platter guide seemed to be rather good. It's the 2005 of this stuff http://www.anwilka.com/INDEX.htm. The 2005 is nearly sold out and the 06 seems to be as good anyway. So far I have found it available online at few places going for about £220ish a box (12). Have any of you ordered online wine before and could you recommend a reliable wine seller that would be good at getting hold of something not widely availabe at a reasonable price. I don't obviously want to end up with 12yr old vinegear or finance a russian mob hit.

Was gonna suggest majestic till I read your post.....

Er, I think we buy different kinds of wine... I tend to go for the £60 for a dozen type stuff...

But then again - you did say "wine buffs" rather than "winos"....

LOL. This is pretty much a one off. I tend to order SA wines on a specialist SA site, but usually buy everyday stuff from sainsburys etc for 3-7 quid a bottle mostly spanish/italian. Don't trust french stuff in supermarkets over here.

The Wine Society seem to be good.

I'm more a fan of the '£3.00, and your never disappointed' range of wines

Where are you? I have a friend who is a small scale wine importer. He does a monthly run from SW Frnce but only delivers to certain towns and cities. Strictly payment on delivery which is nice.

His wine is better than his website and better than average for the price. I think he goes to London as well as Bristol Birkenhead and Lossiemouth and a couple of other Jockanese towns.

another vote for Laithwaites here. I've tried a few other online place s - Virgin and can't remember the name of the mediocre one work uses, but Laithwaites is always consistent - like Sleazy said, never a bad wine - and if you don't like it they give you a refund!

They even have a shop now - in Locksbottom.
