Paul Gower.

Does anyone know if this school is still running?
It's run by a guy called Paul Gower on Bandits.
He cancelled a date I had booked earlier in the year and so far no reply to messages I've left on his number.

Anyone?

Aye and he posts on here from time to time.

Got the right number? Check it at www.thewheelieschool.co.uk

AFAIK it's still running. Try [post=206798]this thread[/post] for more. If it's not still running, I'd recommend Jimmy Fireblade's school, very friendly and he'll teach you to wheelie off the clutch.

It is still running as far as I know, I was up Bovingdon a few weeks back a few bikes turned up to chat to the owner.

When I was at the airfield in September they were having a lot of fun, damn hard to concentrate on the instructor with those in the background!

It's still running, but it's closed for winter now ...

He's called Fishman on here - look him up in the members' list and send 'im a PM.

While I'm thinking, did anyone who went from here post even one single, solitary photo of them actually doing a wheelie or was every single shot of the quad?

Dave! I posted loads..... on the Wheelie School dayout thread in Days Out. Everyone managed it by the end of the day... a testement to Paul's training more than anything else.

His emphasis on safety is commendable.... I recently saw another 'wheelie school' operative on MM I think. The 'instructor' had coned an area off with cones and you could see oncoming traffic in the footage! It was also very wet!!! One rider came a cropper and the instructor sped up the road with no lid on! .....all I can say is glad we didn't go there.

As our day was hampered by poor weather Paul very kindly offered us all a return visit for no additional cost... unfortunately due to various comms failures we're now postponed til next season.

I, and the all the crew that went would have absolutely no reserves on recommending Paul.... he's the best!

I know. I meant pics from the other group that went to Jimmy's school. It just seems odd that there isn't one single, solitary pic of a wheelie from that day

I know if I'd paid that much cash to go somewhere I'd make certain there was at least one pic of me getting my money's worth, which is exactly what you did. Like I said, it just seems odd that there's not even one pic of a wheelie...

Veggie I don't know what you're suggesting but like I said there was no one to my knowledge taking pics, we were all out there playing. It was a fab day and yeah piccies would have been nice but we didn't get any, nevermind.

Anyway I still have the torn tendons in my elbows to remind me of the day

Jimmies school used the entire runway length and we were constantly doing loops spread out up to one end and back down the other side of the runway, so if someone wanted to get pictures they would have had to have stood and waited for 40 minutes for 4 bikes to come past etc etc, and we were too busy having for to waste time

So, there's a runway that's divided into two lanes where you go down one side and come back the other side? And on those two lanes there's four people learning to wheelie at the same time?

That would certainly explain no pics. Couple of questions then...

Is there anything to stop one rider flipping a wheelie into an oncoming rider, such as a barrier that seperates the two lanes? Is there a minimum distance between riders on the same lane to stop one rider wheelieing into the rider in front if that rider crashes? If there are four riders all practising at the same time I assume there are numerous instructors rather than just the one?

Oh, and no ulterior motives for the questions (as I've recommended Jimmy's school numerous times as he's the only other school that's run by a pro stunter), I'm just genuinely curious how he runs his days

No barrier. Every loop of the runway takes about 10 minutes You go up one side about 2 metres in from the edge of the grass. In that ten minutes you are at the least 20 metres (entire width of the runway) away from the 4 other bikes coming down the other side of the runway on four occassions as they pass either going up or down.

Nope, not that I recall, though you tend to spread right out automatically, most of the day we were all at least half a mile apart as we were going down the runway and back up

5 riders. Nope just the one. Jimmy would ride up the runway and peel off and side behind you (no mirrors on bikes so you couldnt see him) and he would watch you 3-4 attempts then stop you and advise you on what to do etc, and then move onto the next person. Half the time you don't know he's watching you, the other half you do. The one instructor in the morning was fine since we were all trying the same thing at the same level, but in the afternoon he left us to continually practice going up and down only coming out every so often, but we thought we could have done with a bit more support/instruction at that point.

The only thing that pissed me off was some of his family and some of his mates turning up at lunchtime and took up all the seating and watching us.....also so we had to stand beside the bikes for a rest/fag every couple of laps cause they were taken up. I'm there to practice wheelies, not practice wheelies in front of a crowd...If I did it again I think I would specifically ask if anyone's going to turn up and watch or not, and if they are, book somewhere else!

I dunno to be honest, i didn't think i was wrenching up the bars at all and at the time put it down to the flicking clutch thing for over 4 hours of practising :confusing:

It's now in my right arm too though, have been assured by my seloun-do instructor it's not related to that so the only thing i can think of is the wheely school but being in the right arm rules out the clutch thing!

Still it was fun at the time

Bru - you were just pissed at the crowd cos I was better than you
