....the 990(?)cc things....they're bloody massive aren't they! ! One went past me (sat in the opposite HG in Notts if it was anyone off here?) and I was shocked at the size of it - looks even bigger than an R1200GS!

Anyone off here got one and fancy posting a pic? To me it must be one of the most intimidating bikes on the road for a car driver to see in his/her rear view mirror!

They are not as tall as they look. I can touch the ground with confidence on the latest model and I only have a 32in inside leg!!

As for images, just go to the Google image search

Rubbish. For sheer 'looming' quality an M reg Hinckley Triumph Tiger is impossible to beat. And they're tough as fuck, I wrote off a Vauxhall Corsa on mine (U-Turn) and there was practically bugger all wrong with the bike, apart from the forks. Mined ewe, it was probably me landing on the roof of the corsa that fucked the bodyshell.

I love the look of the 990 adventure , it's the perfect bike for long touring and even short hooligan runs around town , thin enough to weave in and out of traffic and high enough to see the danger infront of you

You were sat in HG? Just how much time DO you spend in there? Seems like you're there almost every day!

I've got the 950.

For a bike this expensive I'm a bit dissapointed in some of the problems I've had with it but slap a set of knobbies on it and it is amazing where you can take this bike. 1 downfall for off roading it though is that compared to smaller bikes like the KLX400 I had and now the TE610, it does tire you out a lot quicker. Front wheel is made of cheese but doing the ton on logging roads will probably do that to a lot of bikes. I think KTM has changed to another wheel manufacturer on the 990. Most of the documented bugs have been fixed on mine under warranty so hopefully I won't have any more problems.

If you want a big bike that will do gravel and off road stuff, these things will smoke any GS1150/1200. I managed to keep up to a good rider on an HP1 on a trail without much problem too.
