The guy in MCN testing the new CBR - LMAO.....not one pic with a decent lean angle !!! Come on MCN get your act together, if your gonna try and tell the public how a new bike handles better than the old one at least use someone that can find the limits for us ?
It's quite insulting for the readers seeing someone lean a bike over 15 degrees and declare it better than last years model.

Perhaps you'd be better off leaving the road testing to the magazines and concentrating on the news which you are quite good at ?

After years of buying the paper this article is the last piss take I'm paying to read unless I hear you've emplyed talented/fast riders who can tell us the truth

was the test not conducted in the wet?

as i read it it was dry with only one wet session Just a little fed up of over rated journos telling me how a bike handles when they never back it up with piccies or even better lap times. Guess the only protest is not to buy the publication. Have you seen the new PB ? It's worse than when hargreaves was editor last time ! Think the mags need another shake up. There isn't one worth buying at the moment Motorcycle racer was good, and it had the visordown plug in the back page article

It was a long way over... on the sidestand in the paddock

VDTD1Fas / BN#250 / TIT#3C / VDA#250 / TFG#4 / TOFFS3 / SSSD (Poof) # 2 / HBA#1 / VDFF#5 / AC#1200/2

Isn't it a shame there isn't a decent no bullshit magazine out there ? All of them are heading the same way and only appeal to the riders who beleive the bollox they write
I'd willingly buy a decent mag but apart from the sporting publications I'm struggling to find one. MCN should know better, their sport magazine was brilliant and proves they can write so why don't they do something better with MCN ?

agreed, would like to see more stuff to back up what they say. I always think its strange how when any new bike comes out its usually the bees knees according to the journos, and then six months down the line they start saying 'the handling problems on the xxx'.

The Buell Firebolt was a recent case in point.

In tomorrows MCN they will be testing a £14.5k GSXR1000 that does 190mph and even with that gearing they are claiming it wheelies in 6th gear !!!! What a load of old crap. Has the daily sport editor got a job there ? Thing is some people will believe this bollox.

Someone should do a test of sportsbikes and do it on pure lap times with several different riders of varying abilities on board, also using last years bikes vs this years. I'd put money on a born again being quicker round the track on last years softer more forgiving CBR than on this years harder edged one, but because the mags say the new one is better they go and buy the new one.
I also think the bikes are now that good that it would take a racer to tell the difference, perhaps that is who should be testing these bikes anyway ?

tis why when we want to read a review of a new bike we usually use Fast Bikes - at least they race and can ride a bike reasonably well

I stopped buying MCN a couple of years ago, and most of the people I know don't buy it either. It is very juvenile in it's "reporting" and they don't cater for a large section of the bike buying public. On top of that they kept sneaking the price up.
The old "Motorcycle Weekly" was a much better publication (showing my age now), if that could ever be revived it would kick Motor Cycle No News into touch.

Are we talking about the A5 pamphlet or the few issues they did in the larger format newspaper, before winding up the publication in the face of growing sales from MCN?

Spot on Rita.
Notice lots of people slagged T.W.O. for having Nial Mac doing the exact same thing.

Well people keep buying it and people keep believing it. Ur mate just down the road is a primer example of the breed.

Hi interesting thread,

I buy MCN purely to have something bike related to read and look at the pretty pictures while waiting for the next Fast Bikes to come out.....

I bought my (er our, er Heidi's) Hornet over a Fazer or Bandit based on Rob Frost's report, even though the other mag were plugging the Fazer. That turned out to be the best decision, the hornet is the most-loved bike we've had (still got!).
I'm not sure of the new tester's abilities yet, but lets hope they keep up the good work.

thats my 2ps worth.

I only buy MCN when I see something interesting in it. Bought it last week for the R1 GP Concept. But the ROssi death threat story just showed how immature your journalists can be. Mountain out of molehill mean anything to you? Quite like MCN Sport as well but bloody hell how intermittant does it come out.

As for MCN on GM&M. Part from the divvy bint whose on screen for more time than the rest of the programe. i thought the Fireblade used buy review summed up their allegiance to Honda.

Interviewer : So its good bike then
Expert? : Yeah, but compared to the new GSXR and R1 it a bit dated. (or words to that effect)
Interviewer : So a good all rounder then.

O yeah and why is the riding skills bit confined to all of 30 seconds. Then we have the divvy bint agian saying whats coming after the break for the 2nd time in 8 minutes!!!

When will somebody please set up a sensible magazine with interesting articles for ALL sectors of the biking community.

Scratching on Men and Motors.

Guys that do it for real, they dont talk about it, they do it....you can see em doing it live on camera.

Where the bullshit stops and the real riders are to be found.

They impress me dog.

I only buy MCN - and nothing else.

Used to buy 5 mags a month on top of MCN, but I got the distinct feeling of deja-vu with all of them. MCN is the one that seems to break news first (obviously coming out on a weekly basis is gonna do that). Everything is pretty much the same. Same stories, same tests, same results.

As far as the CBR test is concerned, 1 test was wet, and the other had wet patches. In the write up, it said he got his knee down, but there wasnt any pictures of it.

I know what you mean though, reviewers and this balls out attitude. Means fek all to me. Wow, you can get your knee down (I can't (yet) btw, but I'm not jealous - me - never!). I don't take everything they say as gospel, but it does make for interesting reading nether the less.
