Ive scrapped the idea of getting a supermoto to commute to work on.

I live in bradford and where i work (near bierly estate and home wood:unfair i constantly see scrotes on new looking ktm's crf's wrf's, drz's kx's cr's etc riding down the main road on the back wheel and dodging in and out of traffic at silly speeds with their balaclavas nd their tracksuits on... quite obvious the bikes are knicked!

I saw a scrote yesterday on a fully tricked up KTM with black supermoto wheels and it reminded me why i got out of offroading in the first place.

Ive had upteen motox bikes stolen even though my garage has been like fort knox and the bikes were chained to ground anchor and had upteen decent chains running through frame and wheels. I know the names,addresses... through sources (including police)... but never got a bike back... i dont know that many nasty people to help me get them back)

So ive been looking at road bikes again (had road bikes b4 and touch wood no bodys ever tried to steal one).
Went and looked at a zx7r yesterday but it looked a bit dated and the riding postion was far too streched out for my liking.

Got my eyes set on an Aprilla RSV Mille (2000-2002) or an R6 (2003->)

Cant make my mind up.... i want something relaible, with oomph, that doesnt cost a fortune to fix if i come off and parts are easy to come by. (Fully faired sports bike though)

which bike do you reckon?? R6 or RSV or maybe something else??

Z1000 (or maybe a 750).

Good looks, suited to town work, decent oomph, good value.

Orange Z1000 with a few mods....

RSV and cheap doesn't go.

Nice CB500 Honda that no one will look at twice is an idea.

Ive had road bikes and never had one stolen. Had 5 Motox bikes stolen... at which point i gave the hobby up.

Theres a real problem with bradford and offroad/supermoto bike theft. Has been for about 10 years.

Everyone i know who has had a motox/enduro/supermoto has had at least one stolen in the past 5 years.

Same bunch of scumbags doing it..... and bikes never turn up... vanish into thin air.

Shortest ive ever had a motox bike was 3 months b4 they stole it.

Fair question but the sames true here in Bristol (My enduro bike lives in Cornwall as a result), possibly dirt bikes offer more escape routes for the scrotes that ride em and survive being dropped better when being twatted around on. also they dont have alarms/immobilisers which being useless against proper thieves act as ample deterrent from the yoof armed with nowt but a screwdriver.

In all seriousness I know a man from Bradford who claims to be able to put you in touch with someone, it won't be cheap, but it will be permanent.
