Shipping company - thieving bar stewards

We shipped an exhibition stand to the US a few months ago and amongst the shipment were three prototype products which 'went missing'.

Someone's just sent one of them back to us, which they bought at an auction in the home town (and depot location) of the shipping company, complaining that it doesn't work.

Wonder how the shipping company will wriggle out of this one.
