Shipping / Courier a motorcycle from Italy / Europe

I thought I'd throw this one out to the Visordown Collective.

A friend of mine has got a bike and Italy and she wants to get it back to the UK, but she doesn't want to ride it back. So we're looking for a company / way of getting the bike back. I guessed that there must be outfits out there that courier bikes across Europe. I'm sure there must be some who make a living from taking (bits of) bikes back from the Nurburgring. Or could it be stuck on a Polish haulage lorry already destined for our shores.

So has anyone shipped a bike back from Italy / Europe and if so, who did you use?

Thanks in advance.

if its a nice bike I'll ride it back for ya! :-)

We could dismantle it and carry it back on a herd of well trained elephants, but that's not the point.

Does anyone know of any shipping / courier firms that cover Europe, or any specialist outfits that can do the job?

Foreign recovery - green flag etc.

"Erm we were over here on holiday and it broke down guv?"

Good suggestion, thanks. But in all honesty - and I'm amazed I'm saying this - I'd rather do it a legit way and have us pay someone circa £500 to get the job done.

Sorry it's in French, but seeing as France is between Italy and the UK, the idea is not totally silly. I've also seen a few sites where people place adverts but it's not an organised market (being French, how could it be... )

A mate bought a Ducati through RWHS and they used www.mcycletrans.co.uk/services.html, a few years back though so no idea if they're still any good. Might be worth a shout to them.

I've used furniture removal companies for this, in the UK. Very very reasonable rates too,
I'm in the northern wastelands of Scotchland, and had a katana delivered from coventry, and a EFE from Essex. Muchos cheepos *Less than 150 quid"
This is about 600 miles to me, howevwer they will insist on the draining of oils/ petrol etc etc, and am not sure if they do abroad, but would definitely be worth asking

That's how they shift cars in the U.S. and Canada, so thought it may be an idea

I've never seen a well trained elephant with a Cadillac on its back in the US

Where in Italy is the bike located?

The contact that I sell my race bikes to in Italy also runs an international haulage company in Italy. I believe the runs to this country are weekly.

If you can supply me with the details, I can find out for you..

shipped back from Spain... free*.

... with the AA.

Cam position sensor immobilised it but no-one could find the fault - it turned out to be a 15 minute job ... you didn't even need to remove the fairing.

I'll ride it back for less than £500. Just give me enough for a B&B, petrol and the flight out

Serious offer. I have nothing else to do and have been meaning to visit mainland Europe for ages!

Might be worth contacting companies that run track events from the UK in Italy and ask if they have room to transport an extra bike without doing track. I'm not sure if there are many in Italy but I have done this to Spain and it worked out well.

Thanks for the tips. Would rather not have the bike ridden back purely as it is one of a kind and I know if I was given it to ride back I'd be pulling 100mph+ stand up wheelies most of the way home until I fell off and died.
