Me mum has moved to a place where she has to pull out onto a road on a crest, its a really nasty turning and the other day she got walloped.

She needs a new car so i'm thinking Landrover, about D reg, as its big and heavy and also quite high. I was wondering if she'd be better in sommert small but with lots of safety features maybe a newish fiesta or like.

DO ya reckon its better to be big and heavy or small but bristling in airbags??

Have you thought about a double decker bus?
No-one could say they couldn't see her pulling out!

Seriously, I'd go for height every time.

Don't tell me I can't!

How about a couple of mirrors on the other side of the road so she can see over the crest. And some "Danger - concealed entrance." signs on the road. Like prevention rather than cure.

Air bags a bit useless with a side impact anyway I rekon. Volvo? New ones built with side impact protection I think.

its got to be big and hard... oh we are talking cars? Yeah it should be big and bulky, no amount of safety features can amount for size... you know I know

Challenger Battle Tank should do the business. Bit heavy on the juice. On the plus side nice and easy to park...

I hope she won't be pulling out in front of any bikes!

Toughest car I've ever seen in a crash was my imprezza.....my x driving, with my little girl in a kiddy seat in the back (drivers side).....my x was turning right....and some guy in a mundano decided to overtake her at about 50mph in a 30...outside my daughters school, I might add......smacked bang in to the B pillar...........front and rear doors were re-skinned, front and rear door side impact beams (double) replaced.....mundano...write-off....

Don't look into the light or it'll suck you in like a flea. We're dealing with big ugly powerful forces here, so don't go trying that macho man stuff. Put your super-block-em sunglasses on and keep your eyes on the accountant.

Heavy, I reckon.

Changing to small if it's a bike coming at it.

Just because I don't, that doesn't mean I can't.

About a week after I bought a LWB V6 Vitara I saw a photo of a similar vehicle which had been hit by a runaway armoured security truck. It was hit on the offside front quarter, and fair enough the Vitara was a write off but the woman driving it walked away with cuts & bruises.

That will do me, I thought
