Highway Code Rule 185

Watch out for all other road users already on the roundabout; be aware they may not be signalling correctly or at all.

Well, if you don't ride by the book what are you doing going chasing others who you think have made mistakes?

It's not that hard when even the Highway Code suggests you pay attention for numpties on roundabouts.....

I was stood at the bus stop tother day , imagine my surprise when it just drove straight past 'cos I never put my hand out for it to stop ..I too gave chase , but to no avail .

Based on a true story , no animals or motor cyclists were harmed in any way during the typing of this fantastic tale ..

Well Well Well, Going around the roundabout without giving signals is due care and attention to me plus not giving a fuck about other road users, but then with YOUR holier than thou attitude you proberly don,t you don,t come across anything like that do you

Pulling out on somebody using the roundabout without considering that they may not be indicating correctly would constitute riding without due care and attention to me.

It happens so frequently, how can you not anticipate that it might happen before pulling out? Sure, it is annoying but it is hardly unpredictable.

I see poor standards of signalling and road position on roundabouts often. It is so prevelent it is even mentioned in the Highway Code as something to be aware of...

But since I'm not a policeman I don't find the need to give 'chase to so many of the twats and have a right go at them' either.

With a bit of luck your attitude might even get you a tug under Section 5 of the Public Order Act and you'll have to learn to control your anger and irrational behaviour.

Denno you need to go back to a training school and do some learning/advanced training...while they are on the roundabout, regardless of what signal they are or arent giving means that they still have the right of way..its annoying when people signal wrongly or not at all but chasing them or even bleating about it on the internet just shows that you really arent thinking about your responsibilities properly................

Rule #1, Assume everyone is going to attempt to kill you, follow that and you'll not go far wrong...

No.  Presuming that everyone is going to try to 'kill you' will tend to lead to you think that you are being persecuted and give an aggressive reaction, like Dummo's 'given chase to so many of the twats and have had a right go at them'.

Better to presume that, like you, people make mistakes and be prepared to avoid them.

I'd like people to get pulled up for really minor traffic infringements much more than they are.  Might concentrate their minds wonderfully.

Was following a police car who was following a Audi estate the other day.  The Audi suddenly dived for the pavement, pulling up over double yellow lines - parking with two wheels up on the pavement - to answer his phone.  The copper slowed while the Audi pulled over and then just drove past.  People know they can get away with shit like that and so they do worse on the road.

I'd like to see them go round at night an ticket every car parking within 15 feet of a corner or junction and everyone with a wheel on a kerb.  Slap a £30 fine on those that fail to give way to pedestrians as they turn into minor roads.  Box junction cameras have done wonders in areas of London where people were routinely ignoring them, lets see coppers target areas and ticket people blocking them.  And so on until drivers (and riders) start thinking about their responsibilities.

I was told by a policeman and a TDBC parking attendant, that parking with a wheel on the curb is not an offence as long as you are not obstructing clear passage for a wheelchair,1 metre

Hmmm.....

Does that mean you can park a bike wherever you like?

244

You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs.

[Law GL(GP)A sect 15]

'Should not' does suggest that it is disapproved of rather than illegal.

Handy.  But the Audi was still straddling a double yellow line.

But is stopping to answer the phone really parking?
