i have the chance of 2 of them.

both are 51 reg, one has 18k up the other has 16k up so easy use by the looks.
both are in good nick and clean with good tyres it would seem and have the Police seats and rear seat cover etc, plain white with the gold wheels
not heard them running yet
no blues or twos unfortunately

both on offer at £4300 each but a deal can be had - i'd be looking to make a quick profit...being totally honest here

that seems like a reasonable deal, especially if i can score them for nearer £4k each

what doos tha think?

Don't the police spec pans kill you if you try to ride them fast?
12/09/2007 at 15:55
these are the 1100's not the naughty 13's

The chance of somebody watching you is directly proportional to the stupidity of your actions.

I don't think they're cheap enough to make much profit on.

Especially as they're obviously ex-plod.

Without Visordown we are as shakey as .... as a fiddler ... on the roof!

why is that bad?

cos' they are full of extra holes where they have been ( poorly ) fitted out with extra brackets and wiring and they have been hammered ( probably ).

I worked at a garage in the Met where one of the plod ( a right twat imho ) thought it was fun to start up on full throttle

No engine sympathy or respect for the bike whatsoever

now that's an answer i can relate to

Sounds expensive for ex plod pans.

You can pick up very clean examples in proper paint without any holes for less than that pretty easy.

Someones after your money - walk away.

I would say most people would prefer a privately owned bike to an ex-police one.

Ex police may have carried large weights, been used hard, have been modified / drilled in some way.

I know I'd prefer a non police one.

Just my opinion.

Police spec suspension is a lot stiffer to cope with all the onboard stuff they carry. I would imagine it rapes the handling when you take all the extra crap off again and leave the suspension as is.
12/09/2007 at 16:57
Why... because the police use and abuse their machines, most people know this. So, even if it's only for resale I think it's a big risk. Most police vehicles seem to end up in auctions (they do round here anyway) and sell for next to fuck all.

Edited for reality.

I wouldn't touch one ... in some forces they are allocated to an individual who will look after and cherish their bike but others are pool bikes there to be flogged and handed back... you probably won't know which.

On top of that they will have been constantly weighed down by the extra weight of all the kit and ridden harder than most other Pans out there in all weathers

Better to stick with the one in red used by one owner for his bi annual trip to Europe

mileage sounds suspiciously low are you sure its not 118K and 116k instead of 18k and 16K.........or are they MODplod/military police bikes

Most Police bikes have been to the moon and back

I wear Orange overalls and pick up crashed loons from the track at weekends :smoke:
