I feel what I am writing here takes the piss somewhat but times are desperate! I've only met Fazerdaze and hairybem so thats even more cheeky as only two of the forum has met me personally.
At the end of Febuary I will (hopefully) be going to India on the endure india challange, its a 2500mile ride across india in a week on a Royal Enfield Bullet. Through work being a nightmare (all ex-servise men will understand the rigours of phase 2 instructing!), moving home and joining the charity team about 9 months late, raising the nessasry charity monies has been a nightmare, so what I am asking is would people please sponsor me. None of the money would come to me so its not a blag to raise my own beer fund! all money dirctly to the enduro india team.
If i'm lucky to recive corperate sponsorship no matter how small I will get T-shirts clothing made to advertise said company.
so if you can help please contact me either here or email robinw170@aol.com if you don't want to then please say, because having sent a total of 160 letters to major companys i have recived 2 NO THANK YOU replys so i'm a little dishartend, I only have a matter of a few weeks to raise the rest of the money. I have pledged 500 of my own money that I will lose if i don't get to go, so its not all blagging. So once again please reply with either a YES or NO (piss off you blagging twat!!) The endure india team can be located at www.enduroindia.com they guy simon is a top geezer (doesn't ride a motard though!) and will answer any questions I cant.
can someone also post this on Visordown supermoto and general please as neither myself or Ben(admin) can work out why my computer won't let me on! I will put a copy of the letter that i have drafted at the bottom.
Apologise to Ben etc if this is in the wrong place or is blatantley in the wrong place!!!!

Regards

Rob W

Mr. R T M Williamson,

28 December 2003

Dear Sir,

I am writing to you to request a pledge towards a charity event I will be participating in, during February 2004.

On 22nd February 2004, I hope to be departing to India to take part in €œEnduro India€, which is a 2500 mile motorcycle trek over 7 days, taking in some of the most demanding trails in the country.

For the challenge we will be using Royal Enfield Bullets, a motorcycle originally designed in 1950, the bike has not changed since!

The money raised will go to three worthwhile causes:
i) The Rainbow Trust, a British charity which looks after children with cancer.

ii) The Pain And Palliative Care Society, an Indian charity which looks after children with terminal illnesses.

iii) WWF Tiger Projects, who will receive the motorcycles after we have finished. They will be donated to the rangers to allow them to carry out their anti-poaching patrols with slightly more speed than a bicycle!

The challenge has already received much publicity in The Daily Telegraph, many motorcycle publications (including the weekly newspaper, Motor Cycle News) and various monthly magazines. It is my intent to advertise companies and organizations that sponsor me on clothing that I will wear throughout the event. The size of advert will depend on size of donation! I need to raise a minimum of £3000 to take part in the event, but anything over and above that amount will be greatly appreciated.
I have confirmed my place on the event by donating £500 of my own money.

All information regarding the event can be found at www.enduroindia.com, I will supply any extra information regarding the charities which will be benefiting from the event, or they can be contacted directly. The challenge is in its third year, so it's a well established event for fundraising. Please feel free to contact either myself or Simon at Enduro India for further information.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours faithfully,

Mr R T M Williamson

East Clandon eh?
You don't go to the WVAM do you... and did this trip last year...?

If not, well, there's a chap who lives near you who does and did and he had a fantastic time pootling along. Although he did mention that there was initially a certain pressure to 'keep up', which was soon dissolved by formation of speed-groups.

So good luck to you, I hope you make it.

Oh, No cash BTW.

I was wondering how much you would raise for these charities if every Visordown person pledged £1?

Could someone calculate that?

Im sure that even in the middle of january we can all spare £1 for a good cause?
