My missus works in Morrisons (photo dept) and told me they withhold any photos "THEY" find indecent, now thats ok if its serious stuff porn etc but they even hold back female topless photos, is this right/legal? What say you?

I second that. My mate used to work at the Kodak developing plant, he used to come across some corkers.

I used to work in a professional photo lab when i was 17 years young ..................nothing was ever deemed "too much" despite some of the full on stuff for the European market that came in to be printed up

In fact the lab was still there in Glasgow last time i looked

Well there was one time in my Pub (working) days, A guy left pics on a table and they found their way into my office, photos showed.. Bird on holiday gradually gettin pissed and more explicit and finished off with a few pics of her using herself as a bowling ball. The guy came racing in 15 mins later asking about if someone had found photos, He left red faced (with photos) not helped by the fact all the bar staff were giving him a round of applause on his way out.

Do people still get pics developed when digital cameras are so cheap and can go straight to popadops collection via a usb link? Particularly given photo quality printers are fairly cheap too.

I think its questionable over the topless pics tbh. Topless pics are published in the Sun etc daily so hardly fall within the bounds of "indecent" as the police or Customs view said images. I think they would be on dodgy ground holding those back tbh - the police and Customs wouldnt achieve a prosecution for possession of indecent material if it were just that. It law enforcement dont see it as indecent, I do think Morrisons are seriously overstepping their limits with those images.

Thats kinda what i said , how can you hold back topless photos when 10 feet away your selling the Sun/Star? They even held back a pic of an old woman on hols pointing to a statues willy!

I used to work for a photo lab years ago and the rule of thumb was that single person nudity was okay, but any more than one person in it meant we had to put it to one side and let a manager decide if they were okay to include ...

We got some pix through once of an older lady in PVC being urinated on and urinating on a bloke - up until that day I didn't know such things went on (I was only young)! A few years later I spotted her (she was quite distinctive-looking and, like I said, I was a bit shocked) at the Rockers' ReUnion in Battersea and couldn't stop giggling.

Does anyone recall a pulicity stunt by the news of the World about 5 years ago when they took pics from an exhibition that caused a hoo haa at the Tate bordering on alleged paedophilia where a female photographer had taken pics of her children naked playing on the beach.

the N of TW got their teeth into it branding it obscene etc and went in and covertly photographed all the pics.

they then sent out loads of freelance dudes with a copy of the film to see who got nicked then print a sensationalist story

one film turned up at my local printing place, i recognised the pics from the gallery having seen a news story on it and spoke to the freelance who admitted it was a PR stunt.....i rang the local head of CPS who informed the local teams so i dont think any got nicked in our parts, but there were freelances all over the place getting lifted although once word got round none got charged and the N of TW still had their " we got nicked for these pics......of course they are obscene" headlines

My daughter is the Photographic Consultant at a local Boots store. She is the arbitrator for 'saucy' photos that are sent in for printing. The broad guidelines are that stuff like shagging, erections, open beaver and "perversions" are not lawful (but not necessarily illegal - there's a difference) so they don't get printed and an 'advisory' notice is sent with the pictures. Anything vaguely like peadophilia or snuff is reported immediately to the police.

Can you recall the controversy with the ITN newsreader Julia Somerville who had photographed her children in the bath?

No but i'm sure i've read about similar incidents. I may be wrong but i've think i have read about some parents being questioned about holding cameras in parks to take pictures of their kids. Wouldn't surprise me.

Theirs loads of pics of me and my lil sis in the bath together younger. Today no doubt somewhere someone would have a heart attack over them, god knows why. Mind you i'd give the parents a heart attack if they ever pulled them out to a prospective Mrs King756 lol

Still as lynw said, i'm surprised anyone gets photo's developed these days, the quality of digital, ease of sharing them on cd and having high quality printouts at home. Only ball ache with digital is they end up going missing on your computer, i've lost a few holiday snaps with not getting round to putting them on to cd

I used to work at a photo lab, man you should see what I saw!

I once helped out a load of VD members after a certain ball event that took place and man, some of them take a banana up the rear in the greatest of ease...with no lube either...fair play!!!

P.S. anyone who posts after my post is guilty of such an act! Shame on you and should be called "Bangkok Betty" from this day forward!

consenting adults who gives a shit

theres worse on the internet

anyone seen the movie 'one hour photo'?
25/08/2007 at 16:21
They are providing a service, if its in the terms and conditions that they will censor, then thats fair. If there is nothing in the terms and conditions then they are breaking the contract.

There are no laws preventing the photography of any legal subject matter for sure (consent is required for certain things) and developing and publishing those images for any use.

If you photograph a stand off between police and a gun man and you capture the gun man shooting a hostage that is legal as the subject matter was not created speficially for the purpose of being photographed. There are restrictions on publishing such captured images which I am unclear about.
