Owen's injury

I reckon he's done one of his cruciate ligaments as well as some lateral collateral ligaments. i'd put money on it - maybe even a few soapy tenners. for extra cash, its the anterior.

don't normally watch the footy, but you have to really.

I reckon he's the finest actor on earth. Except for Matt Damon, or Ben Affleck.

normally the cruciate lig in any knee injury, looks painful can't see him playing for a few weeks at best.

Saves Erikssson an allegedly controversial decision. Owen has hardly been shining.

Shouldn't even be there IMO, he's always been injury prone and he hasn't exactly been banging em in every week at club level. He is there on past glories.

whoooo ooo ooooo smash it up!!!!!

He won't play again in this tournament. Probably won't pull on an England shirt again...except at home..
20/06/2006 at 21:41
Oohh err - it's cruciate for definate.

The way he crawled off the pitch was exactly like me when I did mine...

Yep, you could see the knee joint give when the ligament popped. Don't agree that he was in just on past glories, but he's had it for this world cup.

yeah, didn't look too good when they showed it in slow mo.

i reckon he's out for the rest of the tournament.

which leaves us up front with rooney, who can't last a full match, crouch! ffs, the less said the better and a 17 year old who hasn't even played a first team, match for his club yet!

it's coming home?

yeah, it's coming home. the team bus in about 5 friggin days.

For long periods they actually looked as good as most of the others - with the possible exception of Argentina. Individually they looked very good. It just needs to gel and stay gelled.

Sven should have chosen Shearer ........... if he wasn't injured.

If chosen I wonder if Shearer would have reversed his international retirement decision after failing to collect any silverware at the Toon. Would have been a proper retirement ceremony for the old man.

You can't have been watching the same Crouch as me then.

Crouch has played remarkably well. His first touch has been excellent, he's held it up well, tackled, laid it off (after holding it up), he's run round and closed players down for 90 minutes a game and he's scored. He's done all this whilst knowing he's going to be dropped the second Rooney could play.

He might look like an ungainly southern shandy drinking freakshow, but he's been ace.

And no, I'm not a Liverpool fan or Crouchaphile.

Quote of the day.

I thought England played OK - they've shown some potential, but need to realise it against the bigger sides. I'm a bit concerned about when Steve McClaren takes over - he was wearing shorts on the touchline last night. Isn't it about time he started wearing at least a tracksuit - as a step up to the full suit'n'sheepskin kit?

i agree some of them looked pretty good. i reckon we've got one of the best midfields out there. but instead of using them to their potential we keep hoofing it up to crouch!

Totally agree, all the controversy over the selection of Walcott i kept saying Owen wouldnt last and he shouldnt go

Even bet someone £20 Walcott would score more goals than Owen, if of course Sven ever plays him

Oh well £4m for a few weeks sitting on the bench in Germany cant be bad

?? there's no doubt that he's done 'some' good stuff. but only because law of averages says if you hit it at him enough times (which they do.over and over!) he can't help but get something right.

imho, he's slow, crap at headers and can't bloody jump! and his volleys are cringeworthy!! i honestly think the only reason they took him was to knock the long ball down to Owen.

You obviously missed the goals he scored in the run up to the World Cup and in the first round then

Agree with that 100% - he's been outstanding for us, probably our best player in the tournament so far.....fuck knows what throwback has been watching

Joe Cole has been by far our best player imo, to be followed by a few names before Crouchie
