Well its the first time ive seen it on the roads

the A10 just north of downham market .

1 cop sitting in a garden chair (the fold flat type) bout 2 meters past one of them " 2 wires in the road jobbies" with a box in his lap and a raido in one hand .

half a mile up the road on the entrance to a rounderbout 2 cop cars and 6 cops stopping people and handing them tickets .

luckly i had just got stuck behind a slow ass white van so i went over them at 40ish (60 limit) but loads of ppl were being stopped and handed tickets cos it was JUST past the destriction sign so loads speeding up out of a 40limit ...

sneaky , very sneaky ...

This is madder than the day Mr mad went ot madville on national mad day while tied to another mad thing.

If it was just past the derestriction sign (and I'm assuming therefore in a 60 limit) were people being done for over 60?
If they were being done for under 60 surely that's wrong as it's an NSL?

Not sure that made sense when typed out, but it did in my head.

If you're not part of the solution................ you're a solid or a gas.

Um, I didn't think them "2 wires across the road" jobbies were accurate enough for that sort of thing. Mind you, how many of the drivers concerned would question that?

You've got an objection to this? You have real Police observing speeding drivers in a 60 limit and it is sneaky? Far better than the bloody scameras and talivan placed in recently restricted roads - which themselves look appallingly like they have been created just to allow revenue rasing...

I don't dislike real police catching speeders at all.

No objection ..

just a warning ..

but u could only see 1guy sitting down by the side of the road u couldnt see the 6 further up as it was round 2 bends and a fair way up the road and 1 guy by the road could be anything ..

as per the not accurate enough, truvelos (forwad facing) use a vairant of them to set them off .

2 black lines just infront of the 3 white ones .

oh and not much sense ... but they were being done for over 60 .

i heard a copper telling one driver what he was being done for , it was 71 in a 60 .... which is very easily done

It IS a set distance (6").

But at least with scameras you can get out of it by not signing the NIP. There's no escape if it's real plods.

You had me worried for a minute there - thought the coppers had resorted to one of these.

No reason to get caught if you aren't speeding either!

My objection to scameras and talivans (as I said) is the recent regrading of speed limits on what (apparently) are/have been perfectly safe roads and the addition of photographic measures to 'catch' speeders - I see this as self-serving and NOT a road safety issue at all.

The Man operating a speed gun in a 60 is hardly entrapment is it?

The annoying thing with Scamera's is that they say the money raised is being used to buy new cameras.

NO IT ISN'T.

It's being used to fund the local speeding & road safety committee, who allocate money to it for more camears after they've allbought themselve comfy seats, paid their expenses etc.

Once again, this Gov puts a bunch of people in place tolook at the problem...

It's certainly not new, its truvelo been around for donkeys years.

Works exactly the same as the new forward facing cameras the cables are tubes set across the road at a known distance using a special spacer. As you run over the tubes the air being compressed activates a signal and it works out you average speed over that distance.

Really old farts will remember them, after the stopwatch it was the first static speed enforcement equipment the police got.

The later ones could be connected to a camera and it took a forward facing picture, rumour has it that when being trailed one of the first people it captured was an Assistant Chief Constable with his girlfriend in the car.

If the Police stops you there's no NIP in the post. They give you the NIP there and then.

ECHR case law indicates that the right to silence and the enduring principle of an individual's right to avoid self-incrimination applies to Section 172 RTA 1988.
