60 mile round trip, thats nothing!!!, if you live in portland dorset the nearest one is over 50 mile each way, at the moment we are going to have to travel to exeter, bristol or other side of southampton

You'll have to move up North then.

98% of the time I'm right. Why worry about the other 3%.

Another well thought out government plan.

Look folks lets not argue with each other about how much distance we are travelling in area's around the uk. I know if I decide to live in the outskirts then there is a penalty to pay.

The point is we should only have to travel the same distance to sit our bike test as we do to sit our car test. If the government cannot provide this then the new legislation should not be implimented until such times as they can, simple.

Like everything else this government does, its always to conform with european legislation, well I don't intend riding in europe, for a start, they are well renowned for being MAD drivers, if you have ever rented a car or bike abroad you will understand this.

Proud to be british???

Sorry, but Rubbish.

The standard of driving in Europe is great (Belgium excepted).

I've ridden through most countries in Europe and found the drivers to be courteous and have far better lane discipline on major roads. The only difference is the speed. They drive a lot faster because the speeding penalties, or the chance of getting caught, are lower.

If you haven't taken your bike abroad, do it. You won't regret it, I promise.

true, the standard of driving is far above the standards here. in germany it's illeagal not to use your indicators when turning.imagine the revenue that would bring for the government if they fined drivers over here for not signalling

Luffy my geography is not brilliant sometimes i can get lost in a paper bag for days on end !! seriously though there is i believe an mptc in Poole which may be slightly closer for you than Exeter, Brstol or in Gosport (other side of Southampton).

The DSA have said that all candidates should have an mptc within 60 miles, unless the mptc will have a scarse population then it will not be econimicaly viable, you should easily fall into the 60 mile rule.

Good luck when you finally get to go to one.

I'm with you on that one Alan.

According to a Dutch friend, the Belgians are typically taught the basics of driving by a family member, and then left to fend for themselves beyond that.

OK, there might be some cross-border rivallry there, but the driving doesn't seem as good as here in Holland.

I have had my full bike license for 25 years so it does not effect me , I'mjust moaning about our fuckup up goverment.  however it was in the local rag last night it's Exeter 60 miles each way. and apparently they can send you home after 10 minutes (although you would have to be a numpty)
Your say
