Just watched David Lynch's Mulholland Drive. Quality film, fabulous acting, spooky, weird, atmospheric.
However, could someone, anyone, please explain it to me. Thanks.
It's not his best but still very good. It really warrants a second watch.
HINT: It's a film of two halves. The key switch is the bit where she unlocks the blue box in the theatre.
Consider the first part the Hollywood Dream for Naomi Watts (the bright young ingenue), and the Second part the reality. As with anything David Lynch, this plot twist is only half the interest. What you've enjoyed already in cinematography, script and casting is the other half of it.
Also, with this film, understand that it was actually a canned TV series and supposed to be expanded much further, something like 'Twin Peaks'. Due to this there are a lot of undeveloped characters such as the reaper in the car park and the miniature old folk etc.
A very good film but if you haven't seen it already, treat yourself to a bit of the good stuff and rent out 'Wild at Heart'.
