Millards 100-Year Bike Show 5th July 2008.

To celebrate our 100 years in Guernsey Millard & Co Ltd will on 5th July 2008 be hosting the largest bike show ever in Guernsey. Victoria Road will be closed and two hundred bikes from all ages will be on show. At 12 O’clock a Motorcycle Cavalcade (with Police Escort) will set off from Bulwer Avenue, St Sampsons led By British Super Bike Rider Michael Rutter & his Father (Ex World Champion) Tony Rutter accompanied by The fastest man around the Isle Of  Man, John McGuinness (now confirmed subject to any accidents while racing) & Steve Clifford (from our sponsors Feridax). The Cavalcade will proceed along the sea front and through St Peter Port and make its way to Trinity Square. On arrival the Guernsey police will allow the Celebrities to proceed to Victoria road where they will officially open the Bike Show. The remaining bikes will be directed to an area put aside for them at Trinity Square. Entry is Free but there will a collection for La Bourges Hospice & Children’s Home.

As Millard & Co are one of the very few original motorcycles dealers from the dawn of motorcycling that is still run by the same family & Thomas Millard was the man who first introduced motorcycles the BSA Company; the anticipation of this event has attracted huge interest. Millards are also known for the manufacture of the Famous Pacer Cycles & Motorcycles. Circa 1885-1914.

Besides local interest the event is to be covered by Motorcycle News, British Dealer News, Classic Bike’s. BBC South West has expressed interest. And Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond has been asked to join the Cavalcade. (Still awaiting his reply)

On the morning of 5th July we have reserved time for TV & Press interviews with our celebrity guests. This will probably be at the Ambassador Hotel where they are guests.

We understand that a Video of the event is to be made by a local man who covers local private events (weddings etc) with the aim of producing a DVD of the event for sale.

There is also a possibility that a Picture book will be made of the event.

If you would like to take part in this event in any way, or would like to arrange an interview with our celebrities.  Please contact Fred 01481-710192 or Tim 01481-720777. Or email  millards@cwgsy.net

For anyone interested in coming to this event from outside the island and seeking accommodation we recommend contacting Rob Stein of the Ambassador Hotel  on 01481-238356.
