I got an A* for German many moons ago, and couldn't speak it for shit. My C at A Level didn't help the speaking much either, but after living there for 6 months, the last 4 months of my stay were just fine tuning. It's the only way to learn a language.

Second verb at end of sentence.  You are right. (I think)

Nimmt an . . . is third person singular.  Ich nehme an . . . is first person singular.

Stimmt - es gibt ungefaehr zwanzig jahren seit ich deutsch gesprochen haben

Jahre is a noun and takes a capital J, Jahre (no "n").

Hold down Alt key whilst typing the number on the numeric key pad.  Release Alt key.

Alt + 148 = ö = oe.
