As most on here know, I am an avowed atheist and I'm trying desperately not to rant at another person's faith but once again, I am so angry that another Jehova's Witness has to die unnecessarily due to an absolute belief in the Bible.

OK, maybe we should be commending her for her complete and unswerving devotion to her God, but to leave two little babies without a mother...

They are part of a cult that is more than a tad wacky. Don't tar all of Christianity with JW brush... Her choice at the end of the day, but daft to leave the wee ones.

Many people die in the name of their religion in one way or another.
At least the JWs don't take anyone else out in the name of the Lord.

Got to agree with OB, she wenrt with her beliefs, I am very strongly against them, but wouldn't stop anyone from sticking to them.

Do feel a little sorry for the kiddies though

We debated this on a law course once, the guy who stabbed her didn't get done for the injuries done to her but for murder because she had to have a blood transfusion, aparently he put her in that "difficult" situation, I would have rather lived tbh

I find it hard to believe that any loving god would prefer that a mother die as opposed to being there for her children.

Seeing how they don't give blood in the first place....

<bigger shrug>

More blood for all us non religious types.

Less hassle for theatre staff and medics so sort out and x-match blood. Saves about £120 per unit of blood.

Why should we give people's belief in the supernatural so much respect? Religious eveangelists have no such compunction questioning the beliefs of non believers and use all sorts of nasty manipulative methods to try and change their minds.

I am not going out of my way to try and change anyone's beliefs but I won't apologise for believing the contrary.

This respect of faith is just another manipulative tool of the religious establishment.

Agree 100%, JW are a bit whacko like so many other cults, some of them use the Bible as an excuse and read all sorts of stuff into it that just isn't there. Very sad for the children and her family, but that's what cults do to you . . .

You can't have a branch without a tree.

And I am not just referring to Christianity.

I can't understand how any young mother can give birth to two babies, then choose to die!

Don't tell me I can't!

It's personal choice - only time they bug me is when they come knocking, but tbh apart from one a loooooooong time ago, they don't push it and are better than the twat in London with the megaphone.

Learnt quite a lot about JW's many years ago due to so close friends being them...even went along to their big conference thing (dull as btw...)

Went on holiday with the lad, he had the no blood transfusions card in his wallet - I informed him that if anything happened whilst we were away, and he needed one and was unconcious, I was stealing the card and it WOULD happen...I believe my words were "Let YOUR God punish me for making the mistake then".

I find this rather uncomfortable. You would have been FORCING you ideals onto someone who clearly, for whatever reason, carries a no blood card.

So you could stand by and see a friend die?

Hard one I must admit, but if I am a friend surely I respect his/her wishes?
