Designed as a concept by two students and BMW will show it on their stand at Munich this year.

Story here: www.visordown.com/motorcyclenews/view/inme_1200_155kg_150bhp_the_next_bmw/722.html

A new direction for BMW's design, or one for the bin?

Its rediculas... If they removed the 'growth' from the front end, normalised the tank a bit it would look much better.

Relatively "produceable" for a concept. I like BM for the fact that at least they make bikes with some kind of distinctive look about them, take the stickers off and you can still spot them as BMW's and that included the fours, not just the boxers.

surely you'd be doing stoppies all the time with that weight over the front

two hopes of anything like that reaching production in the next 5-10 years..

Interesting swingarm, not sure where the shaft has gone

The back end looks rather disconnected, they should have extended the bodywork back a bit I think.

The curve over the tank and front end could be a safety feature...more likely to shoot over the top rather than thighs hitting the bars. This may or may not be a good thing in a collision

Its probably got an airbag and a seat belt.

Looks okay as a concept, needs a screen.

It's a lattice ork swinging arm, with a shaft running through the middle by the looks of the image.

What do I think though?

It'll probably be a great design assembled by chimps using playdough for engine parts and poster paint for the finish. In short, they'd have to give them away free with cornflakes for me to be interested, no matter what it looks like.

seems to be directing air flow smoothly over the front and into the face of the rider...

Front end and back end don't really go together, but if they reduced the bulk at the front and removed the lower fairings I'd be interested in taking another look.

Apart from the front end......what the fuck are they on?..... I like a lot of the styling, particularly the sparse arse!!

I've no doubt that one day I'll run out of amusing things to say in my signature line....but today is not that day!! :smoke:

Don't really get it. Looks like a normal bike with all the things that will need to be put back on to make it legal taken off and then a strange growth out the front.

I think it looks pretty inconsistent and ridiculous now but imagine it with massive mudguard, number plate, light assembly etc. The more these bikes are designed to look good without them, the worse they look when they're added. And this looks bad even without them

The reality of road bikes (and I admit that they're obviously aiming for a track bias here) is that they do have to have lights, plates, indicators etc. While I fully understand the urge the designers have to reach their idea of perfection, they'd be better off spending their time incorporating these things stylishly rather than conveniently ignoring them and letting someone else bolt them on after they've made their idealised prototypes.

It's only relatively recently that integrated and flush indicators have started appearing that allow them to be added to the bike design with minimal impact rather than just ignoring them until the last minute. We need more of that.
