Ok petrol heads, i have been given a trackday pressie for xmas, this involves either an Aston Martin db9 or a Lambo Gallardo..

What would you choose?
Im favouring the Aston as i think it would be more fun when giving it the beans. I have a bit of race experience so a touch of drifting will be on the menu..providing the instructor likes a bit of fun.

Ta guys..

The Gallardo every time.

Much more raw and suited to a track than a DB9 which is more of a GT car.

lambo, far better drivers car than the db9.

Aston engines sound better, track experience depends on whether they're just bog standard with a roll cage or had suspension upgraded, etc as they're not built for race, lambo is always gonna be quicker and more track focused than the aston, I think both are fitted with traction control, so make sure you switch that shit off

Standard cars i rekon.. just hope the instructor is no knob..

Does Make sense about the Lambo being more track friendly.

The Lambo all day long as its born out of a race pedigree and as BN says the Aston is good but more of a GT

you know for a fact they aren't going to let you USE the cars to anything like your driving ability.these days are for anybody ,can you imagine what the instructors have to put up with ?

The Lambo is 4 wheel drive, so will be better on the track for giving it the beans - the Aston will be more fun to pose in, if you want to slide it.

I’m not allowed to have any of these as my avatar, so here they are on my sig instead. However, I now can't add any new ones

Did you ever hear anyone say “That picture had better be banned, because I might look at it and it might be very damaging to me”

Take the Aston Martin in the morning and just before the lunchtime break stuff it into one of the corners and write it off.

This will leave them no option but to make the Lambo available to you for the afternoon session.

Simple.

That sounds ideal...

I rekon they will let me go fast but not sideways so the Lambo is now edging it.. spesh as it's 4wd which i didn't know..

But the DB9 is an Aston. So no contest.

Anyhow, you will never be allowed to use the full capability of either, so just go for the one you know you will give you the fondest memory when you recall the epxerience.

In a similar vein, I can thoroughly recommend the Classic Car Experience at Mallory Park. Jag D-Type, E-Type, Mk2 and an Aston DB5. The latter was nowhere near the fastest, but it was was just so...right.

LOL, that don't work, if you damage the car, thats your day over (written in the rules), plus I don't think theres an morning and afternoon session, we're talking 15 laps, thats it, unless it's expensive all day package, as he's only got 1 car to drive, I doubt that.

I have driven a Gallardo and a DB7, I would take the Gallardo everytime.

It is just a no compromise fast car, while Astons are very very nice, they are nowhere near a Lambo for sheer speed thrills.

I bought my younger daughter a track day as she's a chip off the old block. They had three Ferraris, Lambo Gallardo, Aston DB9 and numerous other high performance cars to choose from. As we're into rallying she chose a Mitsubishi Evo 8 and boy was she quick!

On the last session of the day she went out with the Lambo the only other car on the track. Over seven laps she pulled out a quarter lap lead over him, he just couldn't stay with her!

That's my girl...
