Kinda following on from YIFE's thread about buying a bike to keep insurance current.

How long can you normally leave it from your insurance expiring before you have to re-insure something in order to maintain your no claims discount level?

...and is it the same for cars?

Well Insurance companies provide discount on lapse period of no claim by looking all the neccesary terms and conditions  well Insurance Loss Adjusters do that work if you havent take claim "I mean no claim for 5 years" then insurance companies provide discount for 2 year by checking proper validity and the policies under it .
