No SRAD model like the 750/600.

I think it was 01 the first 1000 was released.

The GSXR K1 thou' was actually introduced in 2000 according to Suzuki GB...

Technically, your theory is wrong.

K5 = next year's bike, the one with the challengingly-styled end-can, not available 'til next spring

2000 = K1 (only introduced in November, but it still counts)
2001 = K1
2002 = K2
2003 = K3
2004 = K4, the still-current but outgoing "face-lift" model
