Slow day in the office so thought i'd get some discusssion going (hopefully)

What dreams do you have to fill in biking terms ? Do you think you ever will ?

Mine in no particular order and with a brief description.

Pulling a 2nd/3rd/4th/5th gear wheelie through the box on a sports bike. Yeah i think this is one i'll get sorted before end of year.

Touring Southern France with nothign but my leathers, credit card and a few other bikes for company. Sort of, i expect to be visiting Flash with the missus and a few of the lads next year at some stage.

Attending a MotoGP round. I'd like to get over to Jerez next season, or possibly Cataluyna for a weekend of watching the racing.

Riding accross the USA on a HArley... I doubt this one will be a short term acomplishment due to finances and time off work. I'd certainly hope to do it before the end of the decade though.

1.Trackday at Laguna Seca. Would have probably had a go this year if I hadn't got into racing, maybe next year.

2.Nurbergring.

Would have liked to have raced at some point - trackdays are good fun and I'll be doing more, but the adrenalin and aggression in racing is on another level.

Would also like to ride a Classic round the TT course - either on parade or in a race.

Riding in the States.

Doing an enduro race like the Baja2000 (5000??) I'm nowhere near fit enough but would love to try it.

many other dreams as well that will very probably go unfulfilled. hey ho - such is life.

Mine in no perticualr order are-

To be able to hold my own in the fast group of a trackday with no worries(done it)

To sit on the start line of a club race and not come last(2007)

Thats all i have so far as i dont like to set myself targets generally as it makes it harder for me to fail

I'd love to do a 'Dan Walsh'.

But I probably have more chance of being the next Pope.

I've been here twice before as someone else.

My dreams are a bit limited (Ok I'm an old git, not really interested in wheelies, getting my knee down, etc).

When I got a bike again I wanted to ride off to Europe for a long weekend. Done that, twice, the Ardennes in 2004 and the Alps this year. Brilliant, but I really must do the Pyrennees to complete the set !

I want to tour NZ on a bike.

I want to tour the USA on a bike.

I want to tour Scotland on a bike.

Take your waterproofs

I'd just like to be good enough and have a decent enough bike to go touring round France/Spain etc for a couple of weeks.

Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'

Not picking fault with anyone, but is a track day all people can come up with.

Hardly a hard target to hit is it, come on....you phone up and book it.

How about touring round UK...with just a tent, and see where you end up......go for a week or 2.....avoid all large cities and motorways, see some of the country you didnt know existed

Harldy the LONG WAY ROUND.....but that costs Loads of wonga

Come on peeps the

" i always wanted to do a track day"....IS LAME

IMAGINATION is what you need......i for one will be doing the tour of the uk next year...so if anyone would like to come along for a week....not knowing where you are going....you are welcome....

Yep. Ever since I first heard of the track I've wanted to go there on a bike. Actually set a trip up a couple of years ago but then listened to the "mate" I was going with who changed the route, invited someone else I'd never met and resulted in the worst holiday I've had.

Had enough of dreaming about it though, especially as it's only a day's ride away. Once I get a new job sorted I'll be going over for a weekend trip and I can't bloody wait.

Be a decently competitive racer (I am, I think - 20th out of over 75 in the championship so far).

Get my National licence and do the Manx GP on a 1000cc twin (have the licence, currently sorting the bike, and saving for next year's ferry ticket... or trying to blag sponsorship from Steam Packet ).

Be able to ride speedway purely for fun/educational (not yet, but hopefully training this winter).

The idea of doing a Dan Walsh also appeals to me (not yet, maybe one day).

Loads more too, but they're the main ones

I'd like to tour around the continent for a few weeks. I actually began planning this earlier this year, and was intending to start some language courses so that I could get off the beaten track, and maybe meet up with some of the bike builders and custom / streetfighter owners in France to do some photoshoots and features. Sort of a "working holiday" - unfortunately, with my other hobbies and expenses, it's not something I'm likely to be able to do in the near future.

I've also always wanted to tour the states on a Harley. Probably easier to do than Europe, due to the language, but probably more expensive too. Also I'd want to take someone with me, but don't know anyone who'd be up for that sort of thing. I only have one local biker mate, and he detests Harleys and cruisers, and isn't happy on a bike unless he's scraping metal on tarmac and annoying the local police force...

I'd be up for that, so long as I can have a Buell instead of a turd on wheels

I've got loads of dreams and most relate to touring around the world by bike:

- London to Cape Town
- Around the world
- Tour the US
- Tour Europe

All of these tours I will do, within the next 10 years...

I'd be interested in racing but don't think I'm going to follow that route (I've had enough injuries already and don't want to put myself in the firing zone for more!)

<switch on extremely smug posting tone>

For all of you wanting to tour the US (seemingly most of you), just do it.

Expensive, yes, but doesn't have to be inordinately so. Flights are pretty good at the mo. Harleys (as most of you mentioned) are expensive to hire, but there are other ways - ship your own bike or buy/sell over there, for example - camping is very cheap and plentiful (or free if you just want to stick your tent up in a quiet area). Food and drink is very cheap.

Save up some holidays. Give your credit cards a hammering. Off you go!
