A few of them turn up at Hillclimb racing meets along with other knocked up in some blokes shed type oddball bikes but I assume that loads of them are just waiting for a bike electrician to come and sort them out.

You know the score, unfinished project with wiring issues.

Very nice MotoMartin CBX in the bike park at the North Yorks show the other Sunday

My Martin GSX was sold locally as 'nearly finished' about 20 years ago - not seen it on the road yet

And there you have your answer Eddie. Sheds across the country are coming down with the bastards.

Not such an urgency now either since the engine output and frame/suspension thing has been more or less aligned.

BTW fastfitter and moth are old enough to be experts on this subject,I'm just relying on what my daddy told me.

I came across a half finished CB900 engined project in a barn this week, sadly the guy is not the most approachable and it will just sit there until it just rusts away!

I never could understand that line of thought.."It's eating no grass mate",means they'll let the thing sit 'til it is grass.

Would a larger proportion have been written off, when compared to production bikes?

Were the owners more likely to have ridden them hard?

Hi

Suspect plenty have been written off over the years (but suspect less than normal production bikes, easier to send them back to their makers to be fixed). But also loads landed up cherished in a garage, owned by someone who wanted one for years. Not seen much because they probably use a more modern bike most of the time.

All the best

Now theres a thing, I was just thinking about the fact that there wasn't many posh frames built for two strokes but then remembered a readers special on Performance bikes in about 88? (ish).

It was a 350 powervalve engine held in a frame described as being two bent dural plates that went from the swingarm to the headstock.

There was a bit of pipe that went between them bolted into place under the front of the seat if i remember it right and the owner said that a specialist frame builder had made it but didn't want credit as he didn't need the people ringing up about it, something like that anyway.

Don't suppose you have any idea what the hell I am waffling on about?

Looked nice though.

It sounds like the sort of bike that someone like Exact Weld may have built.

I know of someone that has probably got all of the old PB mags tucked away somewhere, I shall try and find out.

I had a massive stack with about ten or so years worth in it, but then moved house and gave am to a mate.

No doubt he will have it somewhere, I can't remember for sure but it may well have had astralites as well
