Fantasy Cricket: Help Needed

Advice needed here. (I really don't know anything about cricket or the players)

I am a member of CricketWeb's fantasy team and in a mini league with some boys that are getting a bit too big for their britches so I would like to take them down a peg or 2. Basically I initially picked a team randomly based on their cost and did quite well early on but now I don't know who to go for. Is it better to wait for the super 8 stuff to start or should I make the changes now. I have 20 changes left and it costs 4 to change the captain.

Team
Ricky ponting (cap)
Brian Lara
m. Jayawardene
W. Porterfield
Aftab Ahmed
Kamran Akmal
Shaun Pollock
Dwanyne Smith
Glenn McGrath
Kevin Hurdle
Muttiah Muralitharan

Cheers for any advice. (Yes work is slow today!!)

Excuse my Aussie bias ...

I'd hang onto Ponting if I was you - he's already made a century and a 90 odd so far and after Aus thumped South Africa on Sat they are firming is as favourites.

Lara's done nothing so maybe look at another top drawer bat, like maybe Hayden (fastest ton in world cup history against the number 1 ranked ODI side in the world). He also made 182 not out against NZ in the series just before the world cup in NZ.

Pietersen would be another good bet as a batsman. Some of those names in there I've never even heard of!

I'd be tempted to get rid of Glenn McGrath as well. He's not performing at his normal level and I htink someone like Tait would be a better bet. This could be his coming of age in the World Cup - he had a great game against the Saffa's and took some vital wickets.

Hang onto Murali, he'll consistently pick up wickets and the pitches will suit him.

Who the hell is Hurdle?!

OK, that seems to make sense. No idea who Hurdle is or was. Potentially Irish (my own bias) but he would have cost feck all.

Should I make the changes now or wait?

Umm, I guess so! Australia play the West Indies in the first game of the Super 8's this afternoon. So yeah, get those changes in quick if you can.

Which one will you choose to strangle the coach?

Sig removed: offensive.
It sucks to be you.

Ok, I've made the changes. Hopefully all the other guys have shot their load and I'll come good.

It would be so sweet to beat the 'experts' I can tell you, especially with all their in jokes and cricket talk!

As for who I would choose to strangle, well it would have to be an aussie as they are all convicts and murderers (aren't they!!)

I think you should swap Ponting for Chanderpaul ...

I'll have you know my mothers family were Irish immigrants! I come from a family of Kelly's!

West Indian batsman, not of the same calibre as Punter, I just threw that in there over the convicts comment ... be careful, I'll have you on the hunt for former players if you're not nice!

Shivnarine Chanderpaul - decidedly asian looking West Indian, good player though...

I am probably going to put the indian curse on him after this endorsement, but i have a strong feeling that WI batsman Chris Gayle is about to peak & get a shit load of runs today!!!

Yeah that was a bit shit. He was looking in good touch too, I hate runouts.

Nevermind, you should still have Hayden and it looks as though he's playing within himself. In one day cricket anything can happen! Great game!

from the beeb!!

More scatty running from the Aussies, Clarke pushing to Chanderpaul in the covers and the fielder just missing with the throw - that would have been out, again. And another! Hayden pushing to Lara at mid-one and the West Indies skipper missing again - Hayden would have been out by a mile. This is ruddy chaotic from Australia.

It's a typical tactic from the Aussies to put the fielding side under pressure. But you'd think they'd be a bit more circumspect after having the in-form Captain run out!

There you go, Haydo's has his 50 now.

He's a run machine!
