Just had some Nigerian time waster use the buy it now option on one of my Ebay sales. Anyone else had this happen to them. I'll have to relist it now, but would ideally like to reclaim my pittance of a listing fee.

I had a similar thing a year or so ago trying to sell a phone - all I got was loads of Indonesians offering vast amounts of 'money'. Complained to eBay but never got my fee back

I've just emailed Ebay and stated that its obviously fraudulant and it was a UK only auction and included copies of his email with full headers etc etc. I'll wait and see what they say. I've also asked if he would have the right to leave me negative feedback if I failed to complete the transaction? I know he could enter it, but would I be able to get it withdrawn as it was a UK only auction?

Could he actually bid if it was a UK-only auction?

Mine was worldwide (I've learnt since then!) so at least he was legit in bidding. Even if his money wasn't. If you see what I mean

All listings are international. But you can specify that you'll post to the UK only. Fecking phone is doomed. I sold it to some non paying Scottish bint before.

Ah, I see.... bummer

I've actually got my phone (the same one as I failed to sell before) on there at the moment. Currently at a tenner so not looking too good anyway...

You can auto-block anyone who registered outside of the country(ies) you will post to. It's in your preferences.

offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?BuyerBlockPreferences

Wont stop all the scammers but keeps a few idiots out.

My bro-in-law had this happen to him three times on a car he was selling, the car was only worth a couple of hundred and some Nigerian was bidding thousands on it and winning, then wanting to pay by cheque just so as he could get the cheque paid into an account for some reason, not sure how the scam works

He is currently going through the E-bay system trying to get it all stopped, he is absolutley livid
