I often see folk debating the relative merits of the various bikes manufactured by the "Big Four".

So - which of them in the opinion of you lot makes the worst bikes - think in terms of build quality, fit and finish, reliability, paint quality etc.

Cheers

Kawasaki.

Lots of folk think Suzuki but my experience is that Kawasaki use the least quality they can get away with in terms of alloy, paint application, thought out design and quickly to go out of datedness.

Ay, when I sold my ZZR 600 it had 45000 miles on the clock, in the 9 years I owned it, apart from the regular servicing, all I did was replace a reg/rec unit at about 20K. It regularly used to get taken to it's redline @ 14000rpm. It spent about half of it's life outside under a cover and when I cleaned it to part ex it, it didn't look at all bad, still very tidy if a little dated.

whoooo ooo ooooo smash it up!!!!!

Sorry to be an arse again, but I voted Kwak and thats only on following general opinion.

I've only ever had and still have one honda and its fantastic. :burnout:

Nothing's ever gone wrong with it, starts first time no matter how long its been sitting there. Paint quality is good, build quality is superb.

Sorry i've digressed from the original thread.

Sue me..

All of them as they are not European, but still better than anything from the US. Honda are the best for build quality, Yamaha make the best 2 strokes, suzuki the best gearboxes, kawasaki the best engines.

You pays yer money, you takes yer choice.

Gotta be kawasaki - all those zx6s out there with CCTs needing replacing every 4000 miles on several generations of bike.. oh, hang on a minute

Thinking about paint finish and build/component quality Sukuki have been rubbish for decades, Kawasaki used to make pretty tough bikes but seem to be cutting corners more recently but given Suzuki and Kawasaki have a 'working relationship' perhaps that is the reason.... Honda have always made decent bikes (albeit often with an apparent Achilles' heel) and Yamaha made an effort to surpass the mythical 'Honda = Quality' mantle in the late '80's and, by and large, appear to have succeeded.

Seems often model dependent though. I had an H plate blue ZX10 and it was fabulous - looked mint. Replaced by a 'Blade and that was superbly made too. Worst thing I had was a Seper Tenere - but a lot of that was down to abuse by previous owner - it looked better when I got rid of it after 2 years.

it's been said before - Had One Never Do it Again (OK then had 2)

I have to strongly disagree with the poll - the best BY FAR quality bikes that i've had have been Suzukis - although they have been imports and i do understand that they tend to make better quality bikes for the home market e.g. full stainless systems when it was a bit of a rarity here.

Moi?? Never! (Che he he)
