they're great!!

When I was moving house this weekend I found my old Centurion Pilot full face, from when I was a courier. I put it on, and bloody hell what a nice helmet! weighs next to nothing, dead comfy, feels like not wearing a helmet at all.
In fact if it wasn't so old and battered I'd get a new visor made and start wearing it again
why don't they make helmets like that anymore?

Were they those awful square shaped thingies from the eighties?
Fuggin orrible and probably the same goes for the protection compared to modern stuff, as for the weight it's probably a real crap "two halves" construction made from an awful eighties polycarbonate blend.

Put it out of its misery and throw it on the fire

whoooo ooo ooooo smash it up!!!!!

to be honest I don't care much about "protection", I wear a helmet because I have to and because it keeps my head warm & dry, so if there was a helmet like that on the market I'd buy one tomorrow
In any case I'm sure those passed the BS/TUV/DOT standards of the time and were crash tested to some extend.
to give you an idea the Centurion seems to weigh about half as much as my (already lighter than most) carbon fiber Vemar - which in itself must go some way towards reducing neck injuries and the like?
