Just got back from the CB1R test and it was as smooth as a smooth thing on smoooth pills and introvenus smoothness !!!
Hasnt got the manic accelleration of the KTM but its much more managable in town and once its opened up out of town its just as good.
Got the test on the FZ1 on thursday but it will have to go some to beat that !
Its gonna be a difficult one !
Good excuse to trawl the shops though !
Honda for build quality, Yamaha for kicks.
Well that's what we would have said a few years ago but times are changing and Yamaha seem to have got a handle on build quality recently too.
It may be that it comes down to looks rather than outright performance or ease of use. Particularly if you 'get on' with both bikes. In which case the Honda wins hands down for me.
98% of the time I'm right. Why worry about the other 3%.
What about an Aprilia Tuono???
Looks better than both of those, in my unbiased opinion
Hey Russ99,
I'm a bit late to the party here, but I'm having the same dilemma. Did you test the FZ1? I'd be interested to know how it compared to the CB1R.
Cheers,.
Hi
Yes had a test ride on both, didn't like the FZ, felt toomuchlike I was on top of it instead of in it.
So got my CB1R delivered on Thursday and its fookin brilliant !!
i d go for the FZ1, and even better I d choose the FZ1S (the one with the fairing). You can always get rid of the fairing and have a naked- muscle bike, or put it back on and have decent wind protection when you travel longer distances.
The Yam is much stronger in terms of power but on the other hand the CB is smoother (for every day use).
They both look great, though I dont like the radiator covers of CB.
