I'd stick with the RAC or AA.
We moved from the RAC to Direct line. They send out a local mechanic and in my experience they don't care about you as much as the RAC employed guys.
It's a bit cheaper with Direct line, but when it runs out later this year I'm going back to the RAC.

Dunno about the RAC but I'm with the AA and can't really fault them. Always handy to have. They cover you not the vehicle so you can be in the Astra or the van or on the bike or pillion, passenger, etc... and they still have to come to you when in need. I've got relay too which means they take you and the vehicle to the destination(s) of your choice.
