What's that all about

So how do they come up with this 'Cafe Racer' description. Is it because they start/finish the race at a cafe?

Seems to me that you get some retro styled bike with no modern technology on it, put drop handlebars, a flat seat and wire spoke wheels on it and .... voila.... Cafe Racer.

Not my cup of tea at all.

Will there be a Superstore Supersport next with a wire shopping basket as a top box and a solid bar for the handlebars with a bit of chain hanging off and a slot for £1 coins?

I blame you ... only you would pick a bike cafe that had a gravel car park.. I appreciate it doesn't matter when you're parking a transit but for us biker types... it matters.

Started in the 50's, stripped down bikes, ace bars, loud silencers etc and all used to congregate at the Ace cafe and hoon from there out west and south - hence the name.

In the 50s.... when no speed limit meant exactly that.

50's style replication of the 'ton up' club, when 100mph was a mystical figure only real hero's could acheive.

Romance, nostalgia and a great looking bike in my opinion.

AC you are Victor meldrew and I claim my Soapy wotsit.

basically you put a song on the duke box and have to ride a designated circuit and you have to get back to the cafe before the song ends. the song has to be no mre than 3 minutes so it's no good trying to put on something like bat out of hell by meat loaf.

hard work never killed anyone, but why take the risk.
