City Inn mate.... cheap as chips and not too shabby.
Its also very near the city centre.
As for going out.. depends what you're into. Be a bit more specific and I'll point you in the right direction

Anywhere in Bedminster, in fact, I am sure the tobaco factory has a hotel/bb facility.

To drink, waterfront if you want to avoid getting killed/raped/robbed

My spare room is cheap but its a fair old walk to town

Had one of those a few weeks ago in the big pub halfway up Gloucester Road (you know it ) She had a tag on her ankle and had to be in by 7.00 for the curfew so was pissed as a toad by 6. She stripped off completely.. absolutely stone cold bollock (stet) naked... fit as you like too. Should have seen the traffic

There're two premier inns in the city centre IIRC. One nice, one not. If you're looking the one on King Street is good. In the centre of town but a nice part, next to the river, good eateries around there.

Going out, depends what you like.

Clifton, whiteladies road are good (pick and choose on Whiteladies, personally I like Bar Humbug).

Avoid Beirut in the centre of town (floating harbour area, you can't miss it...well it's not "floating" as such) Corn Street is shite too, but it's all down to what you like.
Closest I ever got to that area is the Triangle/Park St where there's some OK places, Embargo?

Fair few bars open late, like til 4 maybe later IIRC.

Zero degrees I like a lot, has it's own microbrewery. Good food.
Three sugarloaves (?) is a good pub.

Thekla is a riot

...depends what you're into really

I think waterfront sounds like the right idea, isnt there a bit chepo hotel on the other side of all the shops, waterfront is quite near the Yates, by the colston tower I think, right?

I want to keep away from low life chavs etc etc

The place next to the art cinema!?

Aye, you'll only get good, healthy fighting down the waterfront. Shite place to go IMHO. And the Tobacco Factory is a bunch of overpriced wank.

I think I'm going to need to get a map and pin point all these places

Last time I was in Bristol (5 or so years ago) I went to the Yates under the colston tower and poo na na up near Berkley square.

Any of these places near the above? just so i can get my bearings
