Blimey, bit of a bleak portrayal of Britain in the future, isn't it?

Err, was there any significance in the fact that all the way through the film animals seemed to like the main character? Was it summat from the book (if there is one) that didn't transfer to the big screen?

Thats the one with the black pregnant woman being taken to safety somewhere?

What animals???

Thought it was an okish film, nothing really to write home about.

Quite possibly the most depressing film I've ever seen.

(and I have seen Police Academy 7).

A very very good film.

The IMDB page for it is hilarious. Lots of butt hurt Americans who don't like the idea that the UK is the last known society giving it bad reviews.

Not a bad film IMO, filmed a lot of it around Fleet / Rushmoor Arena Aldershot just down the road from me.

I really liked it at the cinema. I thought it was quite powerful and a good story, and Clive Owen is perfect for the part.

..but when I saw it on DVD I wasn't so impressed.

I thought it was good. If you like Clive Owen, I can recommend Shoot Em Up too, quite a good action packed film.

I've seen about 3/4 of that, but the people I was with thought it was pap ... shame I was quite enjoying it.

Ideal film to take a bird to, I reckon - lots of guns and shooting and an especially fit girlie with her norks out for the blokes and a baby for the ladies.

I like Children of Men (yet another film with my mate Joe the stuntman in it). Although the ending was a rather weak I thought.

A bit of location related trivia for you: in the scene where clive owen is hiding in an archway under a railway, the external shot and the internal shot are in completely different towns.

Yeah it was a good film. I think it got slated because it was a film where you had to think and understand issues rather than remove brain to believe it's plausable, which is the current hollywood trend.

There is a book (it's by PD James), but alas I haven't read it. So yes - there could well be something there that counterpoints the surrealism of the underlying metaphor. Or something like that.

No.

But if you were enjoying Shoot Em Up, may I recommend you Crank as well.

That film is filled with total rubbish, And that is what makes it so excellent. Forget realism, Forget common sense, Just sit back and enjoy the carnage! Great film.

I totally agree.

However, the potentially bad news is, Crank 2 is being released next year.
