33bhp at the wheel or crank??

I have been reading the relevant legislation on all this and it says making no more than 33bhp with not more then 0.16kw/kg yadda yadda. So do you reckon its at the crank or wheel. If its at the wheel (which is unspecified) I can get something like a 400 enduro like the DRZ which makes 40-45hp but probably puts down only 33bhp. Its certainly easier to justify then an unrestricted cbr6 or similar. Plus I can wheelie it (don't bother I'll do it myself :rolleyes.

33 at the crank i believe, not the wheel

I think thats probably what they meant but a dyno run of RWBHP would certainly be convincing enough for a useless police officer or more importantly those ffing insurance wankers. BTW I hope you understand this isn't me being sensible I will get a bigger bike within the restriction period and it will be derestricted. Don't want ya to think I'm going soft on ya now do I??

Have a feeling that its the crank but not sure will check anyway 33bhp anywhere is still not enough

PASS, ask an easier one.

Actually, I *think* it's at the wheel, 'cos you'd need to check the bike on a Dyno if you got stopped...

It's at the back wheel.
The most important thing in this case isn't 33bhp but the bhp to kg ratio.
A WR 400 will break this by a mile!

Yeah? whatever!

Furry muff I really can't see police men weighing my bike somehow so the kw/kg probably wouldn't be much of an issue.

My advice, forget it Doc, get a bike you arn't gonna cry too much over spillin, coz chances are you are gonna eat dirt at some point. Most newbies do, and some of us who arn't so new at the game too , I'm not sure that the insurance prices are gonna come down comparitively with the restriction (might be wrong though). Would pay to consider getting something cheap n cheerful, mind you take the pizza box of though eh

Its at the rear wheel.

When they create the restriction washers they have the said bike on a dyno and do it that way. Its easier to do and they can get a print out of what the bhp is at specific revs. Then they can write all that info on future restriction certificates to verify them

When the bike is restricted it has to be stated on the certificate if the jetting has been changed or the exhaust system is standard. As all of this would probably equate to more than 33BHp in the end at the rear wheel. Strange business it is..........if i was to do it again i would have stuck with my CB350 til the period was up! oh well...u live u learn.

No insurance deductions for having abike restricted tho....its still as nickable and the parts are just as expensive. Shame that.....i would have saved myself thousands!!

I'm convinced its at the crank.

If you get the manufacturer to fit a restriction kit at the time of purchase, isn't it rated at 33bhp at the crank?

Alos, that pwer to weight ratio..... AFAIK, it means an RS125 unrestricted is disallowed.

My local DVLNI says so anyhow....but many people have been able to slip through the net anyway here I'm sure.....as initially the DVLNI weren't sure.
