Measures exhaust gas temperature. Let's you know how the engine is running and set jetting up. Very good for preventing melted pistons on an overheating 2 stroke. Combined with other readings it can also tell you when you are detonating.

Nope, doesn't matter about the power output, the EGT is influenced by fuel mixture. You'd run a 35hp bike at the same EGT as an 85hp or a 150hp bike.
