Looks like I'll be doing it soon. Was just wondering if anyone's done this test and has any feedback. Should I be sleeping with the ACU handbook under my pillow every night?

I did it on Monday, and as Trouty says, 15 questions all covered in the course notes you should get when you book, and again on the day.

There wasn't any trick questions, so as long as you read the course notes and pay attention on the day, you'll be fine...

But of course you will have read the ACU handbook thorougly before you go racing anyway, wouldn't you

The intructor I had was a certain Mr Steve Sawford, felt most priviliged, he's got some racing storys to tell I'm sure

15 multiple choice questions? I thought it takes three hours!!?? That's over 3 quid a question! Bloody hell!

How long did it really take then?

The actual course lasted about 3 hours, and the test was at the end...

Just make sure you sit near the front, and hand your paper in first or you'll be waiting another hour while he writes all the pass certificates out

Guess who thought it'd be a good idea to sit at the back

yeah its 15 multiple guess questions. In a way its too easy. However the idea of the course isnt to create an impossible barrier, its to start every one off on the same semi-knowledgable foot.

Like others have said, listen and you'll be fine. Would advise that if you have questions, however dim they sound ask them, it'll set the bloke off on a 'I remeber when...' story that you should learn from. The bloke who took our course finished early cos all the pupils went quiet.

Strange how everyone was asking all kinds of questions amoungst themselves, (surely attending confirms were inexpirienced novices and therefore puts a question mark over our answers) but wouldnt ask the 'teacher' (Clive Horton, a man involved in racing forever, or 1968 AD). This included me.

Incidentally, we were told you cant fail the day. You get taught til you've met the grade.

The tips I noted down should mean the first few meetings run smoother. Expirience is what you get when what you wanted and what happened dont quite match.

Thought it was good, pleased I've finally taken the first step on the long road. Just gotta win me first £million now.....
