That might be true, but it called go tits up if the European legislation goes through.

Agreed! Who will want to buy a bike that is impossible to legally modify and will have a computer chip in it so Big Brother can check you have not fitted any aftermarket exhaust?

This is the real threat that is being voted for in the EU parliament first week in October. If the laws are passed I will never buy a new bike again.

If you wishto show your disapproval before the vote please join a MAG EU hands off biking run on 25th Sepember near you!

It doesn't matter if the EU legislation happens. We'll just ignore it and modify our bikes anyway like we already do. How many sportbikes do you know with road legal exhausts?! The cops haven't a clue anyway and are too thin on the ground to enforce such a stupid law. Don't worry about it!

its not the cops stopping us. have an accident and even if its someone else's fault aftermarket exhausts etc could lead to us getting held responsible/prosecuted and the insurance companies could use "modifications" as a get out clause and refuse to pay out. this EU legislation must not go through.

Gunshot72, think you have missed the point - it is the implications across the whole after market kit bits and pieces. Manufacturers are not going to invest in racing if we can't by the stuff to put on our bikes (Arrow cans/K&N filters/Braided brake lines etc). so its not just us and "mod" our bikes, its everything. And if we "modify our bikes anyway" with the new stop and search proposals you are stuffed anyway - the cops will be sitting on every bike meet car park just picking off modified bikes - and there's another thing that will die off too if it goes through. I will be there on the 25th september

There's a petition you can sign which is against this legislation on the government petitions website.
We should do everything we can to oppose anti bike regulation.
Not that I'm likely to buy a new bike, but it's the principle of being legislated against by people who don't even live in our country and have in all probability never even ridden a motorbike.

I'm a European Brit and proud of that. I have a lot in common with our continental riders and am happy to recognise that.

Robert would benefit from some Euro education to improve his writing skills, as he has been short changed by his UK ed.

Robert screams about 'they' without having the faintest idea what's going on. He 'hates' 'them'. Robert is actually a European whether he likes it or not. He screams about being 'told' what to do by 'Europe' and forgets that he's told to jump pretty high by this government. But R won't mind as he is a Tory.
